My e30 in the wet... or the wet in my e30?

So, as some of you know I'm sure, we've gotten alot of rain in the PNW lately. And when it rains alot, the rivers and ditches around my house tend to swell and we get flooding. Last night, however, was the worst flooding I've ever seen around here. My whole yard was pretty much water, it was wild. Snapped a couple of pics and thought that i would share.

    Taken from my back deck:

    My e30 :(

We had almost 2 feet of water in my dad's shop (seen in the first 2 pics) and about a foot of water in my parents bedroom. Thousands of dollars in damage, and no insurance coverage for 'natural water' apparently. I had about 3/4 of an inch in the back carpet of the e30, and a bunch of water in the exhaust, but it could've been a lot worse. I shop vac'd as much of the water out as possible and I'm going to throw a space heater in there tonight, anything else i can do to try and get it dry asap?

oh that hurts to look at.

maybe you should invest in a metal car rack to park your car on. like 4 feet above the ground. just an idea.

sorry about that. that is not fun.

it absorbs water. Also, go to the store, theres stuff you can buy that looks like kitty litter, it sucks moisture out of the air, and works very, very well.
Put a dehumidifier in there as well. Keep shop vac'ing it.

              and then shopvac some more.

no-go on the space heater, youll make the car warm, and in the morning it will REAK of mold/bacteria.

keep the windows rolled slightly if you can.

              and then shopvac some more.

the car isnt lost, you can come back from this, but youre going to be up all night if you want to save it, and keep anything bad from happening.
Rust will be a major problem if you dont keep it dry. again, LOTS of baking soda spead all over the carpet is gonna be the key factor here. Dont worry abou tit coming out, until its time for that. then you can get a carpet cleaner and also some vinegar to dissolve the (what will not be very dry and rocky) backingsoday from the carpet fibers.

OMG, so sorry dude! I was shocked to see the pics, then more shocked when I saw your "N". Then i noticed your location. Where in BC are you. We've been getting lots of rain here in Vancouver but fortunately we aren't flooded.

Thanks for the tips. There's really not alot of water at all in there, and only in a couple small spots. I was able to lift up the carpet and squeeze alot of water out of the foam under neath and then shop vac it. All the dehumidifiers in town are all rented out now (we personally have 2 rented for the shop/parents bedroom). Are you sure the space heater isn't a good idea? It seems like it would work. I'll definitely try the baking soda and the kitty litter stuff.

Hey, thanks for your concern. I live in Maple Ridge (if you don't know where that is, it's in between coquitlam and abbotsford). My street has been on the news several times over the years because of all the flooding we get, but it's never been near this bad.

It sucks, because my e30 was just getting there. I was going to fix up all the little things on it over the next 2 weeks, but now this kind of throws a little something extra into the mix.
