I think the wheels will look great but 225/45 is way too tall for an E30!

I figured that they might not fit, but I wasn't sure:oops:. What would you suggest, 215/45-17? The car needs tires with some meat on the back, but oh well. Maybe It'll get some custom flares when in goes to the body shop for engine bay painting.

      Thanks for any input,
      Ben

Well, the car is actually my father's. However, I spend a bunch of time sourcing parts and putting them together, he just has alot more money than I do. BTW, he is 54. Should of clarified that from the beginning.

cool, another old guy who refuses to grow up.
im 51 and have no plans on quitting fast cars anytime soon

by the way, you can stuff 255/40/17's under there with some massaging. i ran them for 2 seasons. it looks like too much tire on the car but you can do it. i switched to 245's and now i run 225/50/15's cause im sick of dicking with spacers

is the Metric Mechanic motor built with a lower compression ratio to even out a longevity factor in regard to turbo? (cause of this question stems from premonition that m42 motors don’t 'turbo' well due to a somewhat high factory compression ratio)

                nice project!

That is correct. The Metric Mechanic engine will have a compression ratio of about 8.5:1, due to multi-layered headgasket and pistons. It's all on their website. http://www.metricmechanic.com/pdfs/M...ine_Series.pdf

He originally wanted to do an S52 Swap, then an M20 Turbo, but was ultimately convinced to go with the M42 Turbo (for various reasons). The E30 bug has bit him very very hard, as he wants an E30 M3 now too. He keeps saying that if this car turns out as good as he thinks it will, next vehicle will be an E30 M3 with a turbo M52!

very nice, I wonder what is the right wheel offset to fit some 245 on the rear without any rubbing issues.

Dan, thanks for that email address. I may try them since the axles are being bitches right now.

                              UPDATE:

Everything in the rear is together, except the axles. The 245/40/17 Tires may fit after all. Also, we had a spare junk subframe so we had someone weld some casters on it to move the car around, and, um wash it.

Some dirty ass ballin' seats that we got off ebay. Adjustable Bolsters FTW~!
