      me too....it was an on-going project that took a while, but I think the results are brilliant. The power curve is very strange though. The car just sort of putters along until around 3000-3500rpm, then it's "all-cleared for lift-off". When I rode in it last friday, it seemed to me like first gear was pretty useless. In my humble opinion, it's a full-boost tune and a paint-job away from being a PERFECT CAR.

        It may have been covered but, where did you pull pressurized oil from for the turbo?

          Oil pan was tapped. edit- Just reread this and sorry about that. I believe it was the oil filter housing, but I will check and see.

          Also a small update, but no pictures. The car is now running an Aquamist Water/Methanol Injection system. The tuner (Tony @ EPL) is a big fan of them since they keep Intake temps down so much, which increases the longevity of the motor, as well as preventing detonation.

          There are also three boost options that can be switched at any time inside the cockpit;

          11lbs. = Water Injection gauge turned off

          14lbs. = Water Injection gauge on / Smiley button off

          16.5lbs. = Water Injection gauge on / Smiley button on

          I should post some pictures to explain about the "smiley" button in the cockpit. Also, the car made 308WHP @15psi on a Mustang Dyno just yesterday, and I seem to be smelling the clutch more often. :)

          Going to bed now for a HPDE tomorrow, but thanks for all the comments on the car, and it is nowhere near completion.

            Congratulations Ben, that is a killer job done in relatively small amount of time for a DIY! Jon Volk is no doubt supreme baller fabricator of bimmer land!

                  It's been a while since an update, but here is the deal right now.

                  The engine was yanked back in mid April due to coolant mixing with the oil. Proceeded to do a compression test which yielded 135, 140, 140, 105. So we figured the headgasket was blown. Funny thing is, the car still pulled like crazy, no overheating or anything else unusual besides the compression test and oil/coolant mixing.

                  Ended up shipping the engine back to Metric Mechanic and have them do the work, but just received an update on what appears to be the problem. Apparently, the headgasket was in fine shape (stock M44, since the M42 is overbored), but one of the intake valves had some gunk in it. Thinking it may be the methanol/water injection causing this.

                  Motor should be getting shipped out by the end of the week and everything will hopefully be back together by the end of the month.

                          Another update. My dad had a lengthy conversion with Jim Rowe of MM a few days ago and the motor should be shipped back to us in 3-4 weeks. There were some other issues as well.

                          One of the other reasons that one of the valves burned up was the hydraulic lifters. Apparently the lifters bled out from sustained high RPMs, which was funny because the car usually only saw 6800rpm max on the track. One of the cams was also worn in a strange way, apparently another tell for the lifters not delivering enough oil. There is a fix for this though.

                          Jim will be installing solid lifters, a new cam, and some sort of swedish exhaust valves. I won't say for certain, but 8500rpm should be obtainable if need be. :)

                          Thanks for the positive responses and no it hasn't seen a body shop yet. Still deciding if we should start over with a better shell and transfer everything over.

                          Also forgot to add, the car made 347whp @ 18psi on pump gas w/ meth.
