Nice work, can't wait to see it all polished up.

So how much power and revs are we talking about? Engine is probably pretty torquey since it was made to haul a luxury cruiser. Are aftermarket camshafts made for the engine?

      EWWWWWWWW

A 5.0? Its probably because I'm a bowtie boy but that has got to be the worst motor swap possible for an e30.
A good ol 3 half SB would do nice though ;)

I had a 350 short block where i could of put this TPI on it. But i gave the motor to my buddy. This 305 will be fine for now just put in a little bigger cam in it. The car is still going to be my DD so i don't need a power house that will rip the car in half. I thought i never say that in my life, but i just did..

Hope it all goes well for you, but an LS1 would've been a much better choice. Smaller, lighter, more powerful, less/cheaper maintenance, easier/cheaper to mod, etc...

The 305 is probably the lamest small block on earth, if you're going to put something in there at least do it right.

WELL BOYS... since i've not put my 2 cents in yet AND since i used to be a chrysler man before i got my cabby, why not put in a 318 chrysler so it could really be a true 318???? OR what if it was a 4.0 bmw so it could be a 340. OR what about a chrysler 340 small block so it could be a 340. SOOOOO B.T.W WHY a lexus motor????
                    :pimp:

I think that's it's pretty cool that's he's not going with a main stream motor for his. LOL at the mopar motors for a 318. If someone did a mopar motor like a 318ci for a 318 BMW. Then they should go really old school and put in a 318 poly motor with 2x4's.

IMO a 307 is better than a 305, seeing as a 307 is a stroked 283. Much more fun, and then you can fit the camelhump heads and go all out on a 307. People are making over 400 hp easy w/ the 307, but the 305 is highly avoided because it doesn't have good flow or heavy duty parts which would handle the racing. But for ur swap, I'd say the ls1 would have been best choice w/ weight and all, and also driveability.

I'm not looking for a 400hp race car. I got a 72 vega with a 383 that i'm building. That will be my 400+hp race car. I don't want a LS1 cause of the money. I'll have very little money in this swap that i'm doing. I only payed $200 for the camaro that the motor was in, it had good oil pressure and was quiet. I pulled the motor and trans out of the camaro and got $137 for the car at a scrap yard. I got a cam for it, so all i have to buy is metal for the mounts and a rebuild kit and a set of headers for it which will not cost much. I'm just wanting a car that will be fine for a daily driver. And for the money that i will have in this, it will be perfect for me.

How much does that lexus V8 engine weigh? Say compared to an M30 or something similar.

1986 Z28 IROC Z. Motor is a 190hp 305TPI. But i'm confused cause the 85 305 TPI's had 215hp(bigger cam). And on thirdgen.org they said to tell what cam was in your is to look at the tach. And the on in that car had the tach for the 215hp cars. It don't really matter cause i'm changing the cam anyway. The car i had was a early 86 car.
