    325is track/street car

    hello there.

I just picked up this 88 325is the other day and figured I'd show you guys some pictures of it and tell you a little about it and what it's future holds.

I picked it up with a 5-lug conversion off of a 318ti, z3 wheels, short shifter of unknown origins, hundai tiburon seats (leaving in favor of my corbeau seats, as soon as i fab up some brackets), ebay tail lights and small bumper conversion.

I went ahead and pulled the rear seats/door cards off in anticipation of the back-half spec-e30 roll cage that is getting installed next week. It'll be built with the option for the front-half at a later date if it ends up being a complete track car.

I've got some bbs rz wheels that will be going on it with some slicks, and another set for the street.

Here's some pictures, and then a little more gibberish.

oh, the pictures suck, i know. i took them tonight after class, on a whim.

the shifter has an ass ton of play in it and i'm pretty sure all the bushings in it need to be replaced... anyone know of any good sources for that?

That's pretty sweet! It's gonna be really neat with the Corbeaus and BBSs!

Looks great! gotta be the first time I've seen those ebay lights installed and looking decent. I vote keep the Z3 wheels, too. They look really sharp with the black exterior and the shadowline trim.

            it should be fun.

even with having an aftermarket shifter, this should fix it?
it doesn't seem to include that piece that is visible under the shift boot. the white ring looking bushing that the shifter sits in. that looks to be shot.

i'm not exactly sure on the parts combo. but i know the back camber is way off just by looking at it... and the front is likely off too. I'm probably going to order caster/camber strut mounts for the front and rear as i'd like to have full adjustability as it is.

Yea the casters jacked way back, you may want to address that before you track the car.

I can't figure out why anyone would put those seats in a BMW.

Overall looks like a very nice car tho!

well, the car isn't getting tracked until july 14th at CMP so i've got time to sort out the couple problems.

i'm not a big fan of the seats either... they'll be out next week hopefully.

throw some control arms from a 96+ E36 M3 and some M3 offset control arm bushings and it will correct the castor issue.

i think he may have mentioned that those parts were involved in the swap. i'm going to call him tomorrow and get the scoop on exactly what parts its it involved.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to r3v .

Overall the car presents itself decently .

But I will add to the critique :
                        Horrible ft caster
                        Horrible ft camber
                        Horrible rear camber
                        Horrible ft bumper execution
Horrible redying of the map pockets

And I'm not too sold on the eBay tails although they are not totally horrible on black .

But it looks like you have the right intentions so I'm sure most of those issues will be sorted .
                        Good luck .

i'll be fixing the caster/camber issues shortly.

the front bumper sticks out too far because they didn't change the bumper shocks when they did they conversion. I'm gonna drill and tuck them back in... or locate a set of 89-91 front bumper shocks.

maybe someone will have a set i can buy off of them.

and yeah, the door cards are dyed really really badly. I'm gonna redye them all the same color pretty soon.

With a 5 lug and swapped bumpers, that thing will be a LONG way from SpecE30. I assume you just meant a roll bar?
