My newest ride....Trek Madone 5.2SL Project One:

I rode 531 miles for June in 30 hrs. I didn't 8 days out of the month, so I'm looking to do better than 600 this month for sure.Leave a comment:

Wow. That is carnage!
I used to have an RFX, but I just couldn't get comfortable on the bike. TT was a little short.
While I had it I rode it with 5" linkage plates and later, I installed the 6" plates. Man the bike was like butter.
I currently ride (well, I haven't gone on an off road ride in a few years now, I mostly ride on-road when I can) a Titus RX Ti. Things have changed since I built up the bike. Chris King now has some ludicrous dealer price protection scheme, Turner now uses a seatstay pivot, Mavic discontinued the player-assed welded and pinned X317 rims, damn. I'm just glad I was able to get some King ISO hubs before they skyrocketed in price.
I can't believe Ellsworth is charging $250 a frame...Leave a comment:

Yeah I'm disappointed that Turner stopped using the Horst Link. I think it was actually Ellsworth who was enforcing their ICT patent, because the Turner chainstay pivot was actually creeping upwards and rearwards like the ICT pivot on every iteration of their rear triangle.
These days rear shocks are so advanced that pedal bobbing is allegedly damped out a whole bunch, even on seatstay pivot bikes.
Yeap, "Beer Can" bike-man raised it to $ 250 per frame, yikes !
The Burner came with a Manitou SPV shock, non active on most fire roads and smooth single track, then it comes alive when it needs to.
First thing I did to the 5*, even before building it was replace the Romic coil shock, for a nifty 4 way Fox unit, it has... Long and Short travel settings, red Rebound Dampener knob, Compression via air valve settings and Lock Out too., those same settings are also available on fork, so, she goes from 5" to 4" at anytime, or rigid for those ultra long/steep climbs.
The old raven used to brake-jack all of the time, but it climbed like a goat, even with the big heavy fork.
What do you ride ???
Did you see the mangled burner on T's warranty page, ?
I had the pleasure to built it, almost a clone of my own Burner.
Riding buddy was in a rush to get it home, so he did not even take it for a spin on my driveway,
hooked it up to his old bike rack and whala !
within a few exits from his place it fell off on the 101 Hwy, he was like...
"I'll stop and get it,
then a big rig hit, so I said, well, may there's some good parts left,
then another truck hit it, by then lost all emotion and keep on driving."
I went back next day, drove slowly and picked up what was left of it, what a shame.
Dave was nice enough and gave him a good brake on replacement frame.
