needs a MAJOR drop, but he wants to wait till it gets its TUV inspection done first. Needs alot of small things also. It is sitting on M tech springs, and the mtech fatty bilsteins right now.
I left the S eta intake manifold on it, but put all I stuff in the head, and on the motor, and boy, does it ever CHOKE out at 6000 RPM. so, that is probably the next project.
does the ETA with the Dual Mass flywheel, and the i with the single mass flywheel have the same starter?, changed that out too, but now it has a funky high pitched noise as the starter disengages.Comment

They are SUPPOSED to be the same on the same transmissions, save for long/short motor, but I've also had troubles. Used several reman (short motor) starters and they all did what you described, damaging my flywheel because it only engaged about 1/16" of the teeth. I got a starter off another early car (long motor) and it works fine, but still sounds like a poorly shimmed starter because my flywheel is worn down.
I'd make sure its fully engaging the teeth on the gears asap. Only took a handful of starts to end up with ALOT of metal in the bellhousing. :(
