Right now for the poor, broke and not sponsored, I'm using 205/50/16 which is the cheapest I can find tires for. I'd recommend different tires depending on your setup. My tire of choice is 215/40/16.
There's no real rule of thumb, but more of an educated guess based on how your suspension behaves and how much power you have to keep the tires spinning. Remember, more contact patch = more smoke, but more contact patch usually = more grip. So whatever you can handle.
If this is your first event, I'd say stock up on 185s and 195s. The little grip in the back will be a great crash course in practicing throttle/steering control.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

Does it really matter? The camber is so unpredictable in the back anyways thanks to the semi-trailing arms :p
I just spare myself the headache and work my way around that flaw instead of trying to solve what parts and camber adjustments I need to make it work better :)Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

well i've got the IE kit, i'll just stick with my track set up of -2 degrees. too much of a hassle to change it just to drift.
i guess i'll run a 205/50 tire. just get the cheapest ones i can find.
i found a site that sells used tires in the size i need. i may get a few.

Yeah, dont stress yourself too much with how the car is behaving. Almost always there is a way to cope with every setup, whether it'd be extreme oversteering, neutral or extreme understeering. I've known people who drifted underpowered cars setup to understeer. No joke.
Find out how the car behaves when oversteering, and apply necessary technique to keep the rear end out.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

Nah, there will be a qualifier here in Florida on that same day. I'm not going to qualify for the lack of a cage, but I'll probably still be on the road course here.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube
