Contrast is a good thing, but NOT in this case. You've got way too much red/black going on all over the place, with no flow to it whatsoever. It's all just spread about with no point to it. And you're going to add more by doing the mirrors and just the tops of the bumpers? It looks bad already, that's just going to make it look worse. All just my opinion, but I know I'm not the only one who shares it.
I think it will look unique and pretty tasteful once you paint the top half of the bumpers and mirrors.
Whats this "too much contrast and too little contrast" deal? Ericks car has much more contrast than this, his is 1/2 and 1/2 and you guys love it. I guess its all personal preference.

Not alone in your opinion. It just doesn't flow for me. If that trim was still chrome, it would tie in your rims nicely.
Looks like you have put a lot of work into it tho, get some flow and this car will be hott, just my opinion.

No fit, just trying to understand everyone's flip-flop views. You stated how it wouldn't flow, but its not like he's painting a door and an opposite quarter panel. He's doing the body's trimmings black which is common in vws.
