That looks like an S38b36 or an S38b38 out of either a 3.6 M5, or euro 3.8 M5. The valve cover on the S38b35 (1988 E28 M5) is much flatter, and isn't nearly as rounded.

this guy is very famous among Porsche enthusiasts, Mr. Beck, he is the one who was building the 550 spyder and speedster replicas for the past 30 years, here he is with his latest creation, the turn-key 904 replica

he has had this 904 kit for about two years now. I spoke to Beck about making a purchase... filled out my info for him to get back with me and i havent heard anything since.
