          That looks like an S38b36 or an S38b38 out of either a 3.6 M5, or euro 3.8 M5. The valve cover on the S38b35 (1988 E28 M5) is much flatter, and isn't nearly as rounded.

              Correct, its an E28 3.6 motor, but don't hold me to it.
