Clean all engine connectors and grounds, and I reccomend adding another ground wire from the main location on the back of the engine to the transmission to the frame location. The CIS-Motronic cars seem to run much, much better with proper grounding and well-serviced electrical connectors.
The GIAC chip makes a big difference, as does a TT/Borla exhaust. Also, if the shift linkage is sloppy, MissingLinkz makes some beautiful replacement parts that give it near-rifle bolt precision. I had the whole setup on my car along with a Neuspeed short shifter and weighted shift rod. Like night and day.

Smoked aeros, G60 arches, VR lip, H&R coils, BBS RK's with ES100's, chipped, ITG, TT exhaust, linkage, 11" brakes, etc.
My old car on H&R Sport/Bilstein Sports for reference:
It wasn't low enough or stiff enough for my taste, especially with the 16" RX's. Fine for most daily driving, though.
