    My Project IX (56k warning)

Here's the 88 IX that I picked up today. Paid $1300 for the car and $300 for a new title, which I won't get for 3 months. She needs a little work but in the end I think it will be worth it. By the way, you can see my 86 325 in the background.

yeah the exterior is straight and the interior is relatively clean, but good god the engine bay is terrible. I'd be afraid to see what the suspension looks like!

of course, $1300 for a running ix is a great deal, you could get way more than that out of it if you decided to part it out. things like ABS, the entire drivetrain, and suspension are all in demand because there are so few of these cars..

                  Nice FL strut!

Looks to be decent inside. Needs some killer work outside and in the bay, and hopefully not the drivetrain. That would be a bitch. Good luck!

First thing's first, the lower control arm on the passenger's side needs replaced. Then the suspension needs some work, new springs/shocks. Front end has more bounce than a five year on a sugar rush. As for the engine, she pulls and she pull hard so I fairly confident there is no problem there. After I get her riding smooth and tight then its off to the body shop, believe it or not there are hardly any dents just 2 or 3 rust spots that need taken care of and decent paint job. After all that then customization will set in, plastic bumpers, tracking down black or tan interior, and some euro specing. Anyway, we'll see what happens. I love learning and tinkering around with shit so I think I'll be able to get through it. 8)

I've never seen BMW factory clearcoat peeling that badly... particualrly like on the fender lips.. very strange place. Might be a poor repaint job.

The rust around the drivers side front strut tower is scary.....

i've got an ix parts car if you need stuff. Good luck on that, it reminds me of my first ix, except mine was about 10x nicer but it was the same color and had the cardinal interior.

i have the spare wheel from my ix parts car-its a basketweave but has some little bends around the edges, which look to be an fairly easy fix if you are interested.

E30's shouldn't have rust like that at all. That would make me very nervous as to the previous history of the car.

As for the rest of it, it's a fairly tired high mileage IX with some obvious issues, at least your wallet will get a workout.
