I'll be there Tues-Fri. Hit me up on PM so we can exchange some contact info.

This was shot by Pete, a friend of TJ's that is his equivalent behind the videocameras. He obviously used a lot of footage I provided myself. The low quality footage was from another person, but we felt that the tandem was worth the quick sacrifice in quality.

The r3v banner is for all you guys. I can't thank you guys enough for donating when I needed it the most.

The video already paid itself off with sponsorship parts, which is amazing. I will be working with Pete often to make more of these videos. :)

A few ppl left IMs on AIM overnight. If you guys want a copy of the movie, please paypal like $5 to brazilguy86 at yahoo dot com and I'll have a DVD mailed out. That should cover the cost of the blank DVD-R, big envelope, and shipping to just about anywhere in the US. Extra donations are always welcome :)

    Thanks again guys!

Yo E, the video was really cool. but being a promo video I would say add some contact info in the video just in case someone decides to play it over a big TV others can see your info.

Gordon, I specifically asked Pete to remove my contact info as I saw my video being posted in other forums such as Florida Street Scene (surely you know of their "reputation"). So I didn't want contact info flying around online.

The DVD itself has my contact info, which companies I send them out to will be able to see. I figure if a company interested enough comes across the video, they'll put 5 minutes worth of effort into searching my name or FullOpp. :)

That is true, but you never know who will see your video. I would purchase a PO Box and use that so no one would be giving you calls in the night or stopping by to check you out at 2am or something.

The thing with marketing is having a nice product, which you have, and whoring it out so that everyone can see it. More noise on the street, more a vendor or a Corp. will review you for sponsorship or employment. When we started Lamin-X, it was so hard to find people to review our product. I must have sent thousands of free samples to big vendors trying to get their attention. Once the product started popping on the street, vendors were calling us to stock it. Presentation is everything so make sure your handout package will stand out from everyone else. Good luck man, great to see local talent taking things to the next step!

            Just some food for thought.

Well edited video... but here are my sticking points, and possible suggestions for the next variation:

Avoid phrases like: "Stuff like that" (You used this a LOT, even when refering to potential future/existing sponsorships!!!)

Avoid telling people you got into drifting after "crashing my first car"

The death slayer music.... no good. You want the viewer to focus on the driving/car/YOU. Not the guy screaming in the video who sounds like his throat was just sliced with a rusty blade.

When discussing being on the track. Don't say "There is no value" on this feeling of drifting/driving. As a potential sponsor, that is one more reason for me to say "If there is no 'value' why am I going to sponsor him? Just so he can feel good?"

You're lacking some major information any serious sponsor will want to know:
                      -How many events you've attended
                      -Placements in those events
                      -Events you plan on attending
-Certifications/achievements in the world of drifting (even just attempts to get a license!)
-DEFINED future goals - You don't have to state you want to be the next D1 Drift Champion in the USA, but give the sponsor an idea of how far you want to take this. Are you in this just to have fun on weekends, or are you looking to make this a full time commitment?
-How will the sponsor benefit from sponsoring YOU specifically? Are you just asking for products, and then giving them logo placement on the car? Will you be putting the car on "display" at local events so patrons can see the sponsors products up close? Are you going to list your sponsors when you display them? You really need to demonstrate the value that is in this for the sponsor.

Again, the video is good. I know how much work this stuff takes, I've done similar in the past. Editing/merging/splicing video clips/music/voice is no small task. I'm not trying to be overly critical.... It's obvious this is a real passion, and you'd like to take it further. I'm only giving you my thoughts on what could help you further this much faster. I watched this video from the standpoint of a potential sponsor, and at the end, I wasn't left with "Yes, here is some real marketing value for me!" feeling... I was left with "Hmm, this is interesting, and may have some potential... I'll keep it on the shelf".

Good luck either way, and congrats to you and the others for assembling the video.

As I am sure that you know, the sponsor is buying advertising from you. You have an advantage over other people that are trying to get sponsored, in that you do have a car that you never see people out drifting, I'd work that angle as much as you can. Everyone can sponsor a 240, but how many sponsor a sick ass E30. Sponsors want to get the most exposure for their products as they can, so having a car that really sticks out and gets attention is always a good thing.

I do hope you all the best, it is really great seeing some different cars out there drifting, and it is always great to see another sport that BMW kicks all ass in!:up:

If they want to sponsor a "Kick Ass" car... they'll go with the newest coolest "rave" car they can find. Not a tired minority market clapped out e30. Lets be realistic... an e30 is boring to most people. The people on this forum obviously like them... but not every Joe Schmo knows what they are. They're more likely to take key's from a tricked out Miata/Mazda/RX-7/etc. More mainstream cars.

(I'm not calling Erick's car "clapped out"... just using the term to give emphasis)

not sure I agree with you on that one. E30s are becoming more and more popular drift wise. I would say in the drift world an e30 coming at you sideways is more of an eye catcher than most japanese cars. You just dont think of a bimmer in that sort of forum, which I think is cool.
