    Well of course it depends on the driver-especially with the manual. As mentioned before, I have owned and driven a number of E46's with each transmission-the manual transmission versions are quicker. Don't believe me? Look the performance figures publised by BMW for the E46-the manual transmission equipped version is always listed as being half a second faster in acceleration on average. The new 6 speed ZF auto transmission that comes with the 335i and 535i definitely closes the manual to auto gap, with a number of people saying you really don't give up anything performance-wise to the manual.

    But since the subject is on E46's, yes-the manual transmission is faster.

      Ahh-that brings back memories. My last E46 was an '05 330i ZHP, Imola red with alcantara interior and a 6sp. manual. One of the best all around cars I have ever driven.
