    Teaser Video and Pics...

    Hey fellow R3Vers...

I don't think I've ever posted in this section before...and if I have, not for a long time. Some of you probably know about my project from Baye30, but with the exception of the local guys, I pretty much kept it on the low.

The car originally started out as a 1987 Alpine White 325is - motor on the verge of spinning a bearing, suspension completely fried, interior and the body were the only two good things I could say about it...except maybe the price.

It's taken two years to get to this point...now black, wide-body Mtech2, full interior work, etc. Now I'm on the verge of completing the biggest part. The stroker motor. For anyone interested in seeing the full build-list to-date, it can be found here:
Black Widow Helicopters is a tightly integrated group of skilled and achievement-oriented aviation professionals with over 25 years of experience in various aspects of aviation operations, business and finance.

The motor is a 3.0 liter, high-compression stroker that has almost literally spared no expense. Every single piece of the motor has been lightened, strengthened, blue-printed, port-matched, bored-out, etc. Everyone has told me that seeing 300hp out of a naturally-aspirated m20 motor was impossible. I wanted to see if it could be done.

Now, I realize that as she sits right now, she very likely won't be bringing enough air into the motor to reach those kinds of numbers. I do, however feel that 250-260 is well within reach. I've already decided that the next project will be to design a set of ITBs in order to get myself closer to that goal. So far, I've seen dyno proof of a 2.8l reaching 260bhp with a similar setup and ITBs, but it was lower compression and lower displacement. So, when the time comes for the dyno, we'll see where it's at.

Comments and questions welcome. :) I've worked hard for good quality of mods and presentation, and I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now. I now offer it up to the community. 8)

And the BEST part...getting it running tonight! :pimp:

Sounds like a monster! good luck with those numbers, even 300bhp out of an S50 takes alot of work...

your head looks pretty nice - smooth but with a rough surface (especially important on the intake side). but yeah, you're not going to hit 300hp with the stock intake manifold, and defnitely not while running motronic. a 304 degree cam and ITBs could come close though :)

                    Nice build!

Even if you don't hit your target, you'll still have a bad ass 3.0 M20!

Sorry about the pics guys. From the looks of things, the server took a dump about 45 minutes after I posted this and was out until about 9 this morning. Looks like a DNS server failure...so everything looks fine now.

I think a 304 would be more than a street car can handle. The 288 is really rough at the lower end right now and I raised the idle to about 900-1000 to smooth it out. ITBs are a 90% certainty at this point. Although, the time line on that is fuzzy. I'm going to start this weekend on the mounting brackets, plenum, etc.

The engine management is a SplitSec PSC piggy-back on the Motronic 1.3 until the engine gets broken in. It was a working set-up before I pulled the old engine, and I didn't want to introduce another questionable variable during the engine break-in. After I get the break-in completed, I have a complete MegaSquirt setup that will be installed so that I have full control over timing, spark, A/F mixtures, etc.

The contours have been gone for some time now. Currently I'm running a staggered 18" TSW set up with 8.5s in the front on 235/35s and 9.5 rears wrapped in 255/30s.

I'll probably be ditching these in the near future for a better looking wheel. I love the dish, but the spoke pattern isn't sitting well with me anymore. But hey, can't hate 3.5" of dish!

*edit* - I'll get around to updating my sig once I get the car washed. Right now, she's not too much too look at :(
