Maybe if I can get one of those remote actuator attachments I can feel confident with increasing the exposure.
Edit: I now see page 2.. yeah your ISO is at 1600 and Im going to assume his was at the lowest (exif doesnt show). No need for a remote shutter for these types of shots, just set it up on the tripod and use the self timer. When doing shots like these put your camera in "Av" (aperture priority) and set it to 5.6 to 8.0, set your ISO no higher than 400 but lower the better, and usually setting the white balance to "flash" works pretty well.
