    87 325is arrives

Just towed it down from Beaverton. It is driveable, but the heater core has no fluid going to it, so there is no defrost. I figured it would not be good to not be able to see while driving down I5. Plus, there is a bunch of other little things wrong with it that need attention first.

This will be my track rat. It is going into my garage (once I clear out some junk) for a extended stay up on the jack stands while I replace all the rubber underneath and do all the basic updates.

Sorry for the lousy pictures. My son made off with my camera and left it at a friends house.:tsk: I had to use my cell phone. I will get some better shots later. It is no beauty queen, and probably never will be, but she will make a heck of a fun track car. I call her the Delphin Rat.

Sounds like me dragging home old e30's and putting them on jackstands as soon as I get home with them. Nice looking car.

        Thanks for the comments guys.

Those first pictures don't really show how much of the clear coat is gone. The paint is in pretty horrible condition. But, I knew that when I bought it.

        Here are some more pictures.

It is a tight squeeze in the garage, but I can get both the sisters in and I can still get to the washer machine. It will be tight when working on it though. And no, the E46 is not getting parked outside for the duration. I will move it out when doing the major work.

Nice base to build off of, and a good color too. ;)

Looks a very solid foundation, a lot cleaner than what I just picked up. What did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Pictures can be deceiving. Do you really think that super models look that good at 6AM in the morning? (don't answer that)

The flash on the camera makes it look a bit worse than it is, but you get the idea.

I paid $1250 for it. It has about 270k miles but the engine was rebuilt about 30k miles ago. It needs a lot of parts, but it is a solid foundation. Remember, this will be a track rat so I am not too worried about the paint other than keeping rust away.

I love the color, except for the oxidation and fade. Ive never seen that Momo steering wheel before. Clean car.

Yes, the color is a bit different. It is a bit more green than what shows up in the pictures. I thought it would be just a dark gray, and that is how it looks in pictures. But there is a very subtle green tone to it. I think I will buff it out some. There is a lot of oxidation. I know I will lose more clear coat by doing that, but I think it will keep the rest of the paint in better shape. It might also blend the bad clear coat a bit so it is not so sharp of a contrast. Then slather a bunch of Zaino on it to seal it up and protect it.

I don't know anything about the Momo wheel. I haven't researched it yet. But, I like the size and the feel of it. It is nice and thick and it is only about a year old so the leather is in good shape.

Parts start arriving tomorrow. I have to get another set of jack stands and get it up in the air. It has Bilstein sports, which is good, but it has the Eibach Pro springs. I think the Eibachs will have to go. They are going to be too soft and I think I will be hitting the bump stops out on the track. I would like to try the Turner J Stock setup. Maybe the can re-valve the shocks for me and I can just buy the springs.

lol, well, for a local guy, I can part with them for cheap. It depends on how the budget looks after I get into the guts of it. If I end up having to do more than I expect, I might have to keep the current suspension on it.

I hope it doesn't come to that. I have enough money to do alot of work on it, but I have set a budget for it that I won't excede. What's the point in building a track car if you have no money left over for track days?:D
