What is the best description of this, beyond the obvious concrete one?

    Life hack?
    Easter egg?
    Desperation?

(Still talking about Alpine White E30s :))

First, I'm by no means wealthy. I'm careful about model selection, patient for the right car, and I buy at the bottom of the depreciation curve with the intention of keeping a car forever.

I bought, what is to the general Ferrari admirer, the least loved one you can buy, a 348. I was, like most other Ferrari shoppers, initially dismissive of the 348. I've looked off and on for almost 10 years, and the longer I waited, the bigger my budget. When ready to pull the trigger, I could have swung a 430, but I came back to the 348 for specific reasons. It's really the best kept secret in the Ferrari lineup.

This thread is about Alpine White E30s. So here's a picture of one.

The BMW is great; it does everything well. The guy who built it up before me did a pretty good job of making it fast and sharp. But left a lot of loose ends that I had to tie up. In the end, this car now more nimble and has better ergonomics and utility than my Porsche or Ferrari. Well, the Ferrari is more nimble. Actually, it's more everything :).

But the BMW is fun, fast, and cheap, so I don't mind flogging it. But I got another fun and very different vehicle that may serve as my new daily driver once it's restored, so the lessening of interest is because of me, not the car.
