FYI euro grills are not DOT approved because the little eye brow slat covers a small part of the light. This is why N/A cars have different grills... I would change the grills back when you get the opportunity same with the ellipsoids.

All European ellipsoids have the city-light at the top.

Mike, you're also correct, DOT felt that the little 'eye brow' interfered with light output.

I have 205/50-16 Yokohama's AE50's on the car now. I ordered a set of Yokohama AVS ES100's, same fitment. The wheels are obviously 16". They are Alpinas, not the replicas.

As for the airdam, its stock Euro-ness. I got it as an 'extra' from the insurance company ($500).

Now as I look at the headlamps, I see they probably aren't the European Ellipsoids. They have "DOT" towards the top.

With all the documents and records that came with the car, I have something from the importer, J.K. Motors out of Baltimore:

"Total DOT and EPA conversion including reports to applicable government agencies: $5,000."
I would have to assume that the ellips and grilles were in on that

Eitherway, I like my car a lot and I'd have to say its unique as hell over here in the US. I want to get the rest of the body work done. Then I plan to have the seats wrapped in new leather hides and replace the carpet. Then I want to have the Metric Mechanic Ultimate Trasmission rebuilt, then have the engine rebuilt.

The rest of the body work should be done within the next month or so, I am waiting for the insurance company to settle with me (backed wages and pain & suffering).

I appreciate all the comments on my car. Thanks everyone.

Have you considered adding an M-Tech I body kit?

I have, but to be honest with you, I like the way the car looks now. If anything, I'll get an M-tech rear apron.

If I could find an M-tech kit that wasn't beat to hell and at a decent price, I *might*

Yeah, that front lip that you have on there looks pretty good. The rear is so bare on the 84-87 models. I think any rear apron would make it look awesome.

It wouldn't make a lick of differance but the lights could go either way as europe had that style too. if they have aiming numb on the lenes then they are US spec if they don't then they are eu spec. Or easier check what bulbs are in them, H1 EU and 9006/9005 are US spec.
