Looks like I'm probably going to need a new front valence, I think it's a bit bent in the middle. The bumper doesn't sit flush against it in the middle, there is a gap.

If your bumper is cracked and valence is bent...ever think about a front end collision?
My front valence is bent too. I didn't notice till like a year after I had it, but my car was also in a front end collison (realized this after a car fax) but it seems to have been repaired right so all is well.
With the age of these cars they are bound to have hit something at somepoint.
Best of luck with it.
Oh what ever became of those wheels on the white e30? Did they actually sell?
My carfax is clean. Although I've found misc. pieces of glass while taking stuff apart, and my front windhield says "Safelite, made in USA" or something, while the rest have BMW roundels on them...
I think it's safe to say mine has been in an accident :P
Congrats on the new car Josh, can't wait to see what becomes of it
Scored a new oil pan and I'm getting a front valence later this month. Now I just need to find a plastic bumper cover, and that will take care of most of the small body flaws. Just need to have the 2 spots in both fenders taken care of, they are small, and find out about getting the are of chipped paint on the back fixed.
After that, I will buy my H&R CupKit and start collecting parts for the 5 speed swap.

If its simply a broken windshield, its possible to have found glass inside the car and have a non OEM windshield without it being in a collision. Minor road debris can cause a busted windshield. I just recently replaced my windshield and I wouldn't necessarily call it an 'accident', at least nothing that would show up on Carfax. As for Carfax, its hit and miss. I know that my car has had some minor collision repair done (a small dent in the hood that was repaired), yet that didn't show up on Carfax, however, because some dumbass smog tech wrote down the wrong mileage at some point in the life of the car, it shows up on Carfax as a suspected odometer rollback. Knowing full well that my father-in-law is the only previous owner, I know for a fact that's not the case. My buddy Eric ran several VIN's of cars that had been totalled out by insurance companies and they came up clean. Take what a Carfax report says with a grain of salt. Just my 2¢

Yeah, I wasn't relying on Carfax, it's just a good thing to have in addition to a thorough inspection. Andrew and I both looked over all the boyd panels of the car very closely, and there were no waves or evidence of repainting. Everything matched up just fine, and you could tell the paint was all original.
