After 4 years, back in the saddle! ('89 Zinno)

Back in 2004 I sold my '91 325i. Ever since then I've been missing it, and wanting another. Well, a week ago I stopped wanting.

Aparently, I've talked so much about my old car, that my girlfriend was able to create a list and hand it over to a guy named Doug Thoms, the Chief Driving Instructer for the Northern Ohio Chapter of the CCA. Doug was able to track down a lightly driven '89 325i with slight front end damage (grill pushed into radiator) and sun fade that had been sitting down in Flordia for a year +.

Doug performed the basic maintenance (tbelt, waterpump, repaired front end) but then repainted the whole car in it's original color. My girlfriend's parents used to do classic car restoration, her mom commented that the paint was done very well. I can find no orange peel, no filled in areas, and no dents. The only rust I can find is in two places. The trunk floor where the jack is kept (small crack through floorpan due to rust) and the driver side drain plug is rusted out and exposing the carpet. I will be getting these fixed in a few months. In the mean time, it wont be seeing rain and the summer climant here in VA wont exacerbate the problem.

Runs very well. Has some small issues such as the power mirrors not working, central locks jacked up, and some sensors in the radiator not connected to anything (look at the pic, if you have an idea let me know). Other than that, it's time to start pouring money into it.

    On to the pics...

btw my girlfriend is the best in the world.

    ever.

Yea, that's the plan. Everything mentioned so far :)

I haven't had much time to play around. It's been raining constantly and I hate working on cars outside when it's nasty out.

Tomorrow I've gotta go see if the A/C was pulled. I haven't specifically checked for it, but I'm pretty sure one of those sensors is for the electric fan, and I also didn't see the A/C coolant line that runs to the radiator. If it was, I'm not concerned. I'll have to wire up the electric fan with the 80f switch and delete the engine fan.

I have a solid plan for clear up the last of the cosmetic stuff. I am dreading ordering the small valence pieces, fogs, and brake vents, however.

the radiator is from a car with an early cooling system - those sensors are temp switches for the aux fan. later radiators have both sensors built into one switch.

Dude, unless that woman is a 300 pound moose with cerebral palsy, marry her NOW!

Fuck the car, man (nice find BTW), cars are replaceable...but a girl who UNDERSTANDS...oh shit, that is golden.

Massage her feet with your tongue if she is into that kind of shit, roses once a week, drip melted butter on her boobs and lick it off...do whatever you can keep her happy.

                              Closing SOON!
