I had one, it drove me nuts. it was nice to have sometimes, but mostly it rattled and got in the way. actually, I still have it if anyone wants to buy it - it could use recovering, but it's not in terrible shape.

A good example of over engineering, lol. I wonder if there is something you can do to keep it from rattling? Maybe washers.

Where's the plastic mug?! I got mine a million years ago from BavAuto and it came with a plastic coffee mug with a BMW logo on it. I don't drink coffee so the mug is long gone but I love the stupid arm rest, especially with a slushbox car like mine.

It can rattle when not in use (the drop down wire cup supports) just pull out the cup holder portion a 64th of an inch and the rattle stops.

yeah, I had one a million years ago and didn't use it that much because I didn't drive long distance, but now driving to all these car shows in the vert, I think I could use it

I have thought alot about getting one of those many times. guess I wont now. I use the armrest in my e46 like a gangster- rockin the lean to the middle always. the armrest in a e46 is a necessity.
is the height adjustable on the e30 one? does it sit low enough to be comfortable?

Nice piece...but wasn't for me. Got in the way of shifting.

Mike it sits about as high the armrests on the door.

It's not adjustable up/ down.. But it does slide back and forth.

Vlad, install it like the box has a picture of.. It's a real pain if you have the cups facing forward (Unless you have an automatic).

I've had mine for a year or so and love it!! You can slide it forward really quick when you're on the interstate cruising, then slide it back when your in town and have to shift.

ya i love mine, i had rob (rscheiring) cover it in alcantara to match my shift and brake boots.

i never knew the cups should be facing backwards, that makes way more sense! kinda.
