Plan B if the car was totally FUBAR was to take the train back to Fresno with my brother, stay a few days, and fly back to LV. I looked over the car for 20 minutes and drove it for probably 30. I didn't expect it to be perfect for the price; however I'm not an E30 expert, so I missed a few things.

Lot of answers and pics coming later - thanks for all the kind replies.

Edit - I never see clean E30's for sale in Vegas, at all, ever.

Edit - The other big selling point for me was ice-cold air conditioning, something missing from most other E30's I would otherwise be interested in, especially with an engine swap.

I think you got at least your moneys worth in parts on the car.

The problems you mention are all little quirks that come with E30's and especially modified E30's. Its pretty easy to do a motor swap wrong on these cars. You just gotta read and do your homework and ask lots of quesitons. Its mostly trial and error. Never take peoples advice on here about motor swap quesitons unless they
        a) have done the swap in their own car
        b) are a mechanic or are a moderator here

Those are just about the only people you should be listening to because most everyone just spits out what they read. The misinformation on this forum is great at times like all the other bmw forums.
