Thanks man! I've been trying to get to the meets lately, but didn't want to roll out in the e39. But yeah, hopefully the next one for sure!

Today I finally got it into the paint booth, sorry forgot the camera. I'll have to say though I'm pretty please. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Also I was cleaning out the trunk and where the rear battery suppose to be (mine is located in the front) theres a 25lb piece a shiet there. :nice: Anyways I took it out, is there any drawback from this?

Oh yeah, also scored some ellipsoid today so I'm stoked to get those on the car. I got the set with the pigtails, is it PnP? I heard you need a regulator or something, true?

Rear apron is a must since I was looking at the car today and it looked so naked, so if anyone has a lead on a racing dynamic rear or something good as that please pm me! Thanks guys!

The lights just take some simple wiring and a jumper wire soldered onto the high beam relay so they work correctly.

PM me if you have and questions about it

There is a resurgence in the Cirrus Blau Metallic Cabrio's...way to go! Can I recommend Flip at Eurostyle for a rear apron. Its a mtech replica. Go to maxbimmer.com and you should find his phone number. He advertises there.

Good luck and show us some final pics.

Edit: I forget you emailed me about this, sorry. Did you call him?

Good write-up.Cabrios make good project cars.I bought mine in December, and almost sold it three months later, but with the warm weather finally here, there's no way I;m selling it.Just added the "Cris"lip.:) RS reps and a suspension drop coming next.BTW,with rear headrest, car will look bad-ass when you drop the top.

                        A little update from today:

So I finally got to see the car out in the sun today and I have to say the paint is about 8/10. There's some dust spots here and there, plus theres a few spots where the body wasn't prep properly. But overall it turned out pretty good, I can't complain. Better than a Macco job for sure.

Anyways today I did a lot of refinishing on some old parts on the car. First off the stock grills are a bit oxidize, so like everyone knows already SEM trim paint will do the job. Euro grills in the future for sure!

Heres a pic of the grill getting sanded and before/after pic:

Man what a day and night difference!

Next up was the rings on the ellipsoid headlight. I used a flat black which turned out great!

                        Before:

                        After:

                        Mounted:

                        Don't they look sexy!

I also did the bumper trim, but didn't get any pics of those. Maybe tomorrow!

So turns out my car had a small hairline crack on the oil pan. What else can you do, other than replace it right? Picked one up at the local junkyard $11 (half-price special weekend)

Here it is all cleaned up:

And thought I do this for shit and giggles:

So yeah, thats all for today! More tomorrow, probably will put the front end back together tomorrow!

                        Here's a lil' teaseerrr:

                            Thanks!

                            Little update from today 6/1/08:

So I went to the shop today to get some of the smaller details done. First off was the tailights, pretty much straight forward install. Finally this lil' one can back that ass up! ;) Looking like a car again, yeahhhhh!:D

Next was converting my seam beams to the ellipsoid. Everything was pretty much straight forward, since the pigtails wire were the same color as my stock wires. Small problem though, 1 extra wire each from the low and high beam. They are the same color though, so could it be possible that they should be wire up together in order to have the lows on when high's are ignited?

They power on, but the lows don't stay on when highs are ignited. So I just left it like that for now until tomorrow. Next thing was the grills and kidney. Everything lines up, just need to do a little alignment tomorrow. (in a hurry to get home for bbq :D)

                            Sneak peek:

Before you go and say paint the kidney, its just for test fitment. Didn't have a chance to paint it yet, probably tomorrow. What do you guys think, recondition the center and polish the aluminum? Or paint the whole kidney grill matte black to flow with the grills? (I'm more turned towards all black front at the moment)

Ok that's all for today, stay tune until tomorrow!

Just FWIW - they can be welded. PITA to do, with the oil impregnated Al. Mine had a hairline crack, and I got it welded - took the guy 30 mins though.

                              Nice progress!
