Ned - It's very nice -lets see some interior & engine shots!!

The gauge cluster was changed out to from KPH to MPH during the federalization process in the USA. The KPH one removed, had the "hartge" logo lazer cut in the face panel of the gauges. Their was a whole pile of these clusters in the back room of the importer as a result of federalization. They were probably thrown away - what a waste of a rare part!!

You'll also notice that side marker lights were added to this car to bring it up to USA spec's.

Now with your car i think its not an original German built Hartge, It's probably a normal 323i with the Hartge Goodies (never know i could be wrong)

With side skirts yes they did come with them but they were an option also the rear valence was an option. My Hartge has got them and they are also stamped with H23 on them.

Now to check if your motor is an original Hartge motor, Hartge would be stamped on the head on the Air ports side you would see some part numbers and Hartge stamped on there.I also noticed that your cluster is not a Hartge cluster, the hartge H23's had a 260km/h cluster with Hartge stamped on it.

Diff, we'll my car is a german built hartge and they use alot of highway driving there, it has a 3.46 LSD. Suspension, you should have some Hartge springs/shocks, the Springs should have Hartge and a part number stamped on them also the shocks should aswell.

And with those wheels, good luck, When you find some and you need some caps i can make you some, thats what i've did for my car, i though i would make alluminium copies rather than loosing the originals.

Please email me on bmwparts@optusnet.com.au if you need any more info.

Cool man. I love your car! I believe then original guage cluster was swapped when the car was federalized by Performance Plus. My car has all of the Hartge stuff. Steering wheel, headers, exhaust, valve cover, steering wheel, gauges, full suspension, extra gas tank, strut bars, front and rear airdams, spoiler, stripes, and I'm pretty sure that same rear end etc. etc. I'd be really surprised if it was just a Hartge'd out 323. Somebody went to town on the car if it is! Thanks guys!

A bit off topic, but I don't recall ever seeing the sidemarkers on early euro bumpers like that. Is there a story behind that or did somebody retrofit them in there after the fact?
I believe it was part of the federalization process.
