My buddy got a $100k fine and 6 months jail time. He got rated out by one of his employees. No joke.Leave a comment:

You should keep that info to yourself, people are getting burned more and more for illegally passing cars that dont pass smog. I dont think your hook-up would like you to advertise on the interweb. Just my

Ok, I talked to my smog guy. It IS as easy as I thought it was.
1) You pay $100 towards diagnosis
2) Shop checks out the vehicle
3) Shop tells you what's wrong
4) You tell them that you don't want the vehicle
5) State pays you $1,000 (funds permitting)
Here's some official documentation from the state of CA on the matter. This should hopefully reduce any misinformation on the subject:

And, here's what the state requires of the vehicle. Looks like I'll be removing a few things from it before sending it in:

In TN, i roll up. Tell em my mileage, and they check for a cat. Put this little sniffer in, and I hand my 10 dollars over. Im gone. CA is wack.Leave a comment:

It boggles my mind that you guys have to jump through so many hoops for emissions standards down there. I have the luxury of owning property on the East side of the mountains here in WA and there is no emission testing required over here. I've got my truck and e30 registered over here so I won't have to test any vehicle until I sell the house and move back to the west side. Registration/taxes are much cheaper over here too.Leave a comment:

Ouch! That's unfortunate.
I really don't think anyone here will be interested in the car, but I'll post up some pictures soon for the heck of it.Leave a comment:
