car is going to be paid off next year if your all wondering. 2.5 years to pay off an m3 i think is pretty quick.
401k i assume is like retirement funds right? well in canada its a bit different when it comes to that, i'm putting money into investments and my pension plan. also working for the government has probably the best benefits around. and living at home doesn't mean sitting on my ass, i do work around here and pay for things.
so don't be so quick to judge. different people have different opportunities and take different roads.

LOL. Hopefully the real world doesn't slap you too hard.

Then again, if mommy and daddy let you live at home, owning sports cars, until you're near your mid-life-crisis, I'm sure they won't let it.

2.5 years to pay off an m3? Fuck, if I was living at home at 22 and didn't pay for housing and school, I'd have it paid off less then a year. And I still don't consider myself "doing well".

But brag as you must... And I'll judge as I must.

pay it off in less then a year? what do you do for a living may i ask?
are you factoring in gas, clothes, going out, anything that doesn't include some food and house bills?
i think i earned my car although scoring a co-op job and going full time after college at 19yrs old helps. i didn't slack off and didn't waste my money one dumb things like lots of people do. i buy things to keep and enjoy. why buy a civic that i won't care about or instead buy a car that i like and will take care of it so it'll last forever.
just wondering, whats the average price of a house and average age in the states for:
      finishing school (college/university)
      moving out from home
starting a career or full time job
      retirement
      ????

jflip2002 - you had the choice to get the car, but lets say you crashed the e30. would you go for the m5 instead or look for another e30? same choice i had to make. i decided to move up.

          retirement
          ????
          finishing school (college/university)— 22-23 unless doctor, lawyer,etc
moving out from home— haven't lived at home since I moved away to college
starting a career or full time job—worked temp jobs for a few months until I landed a full time gig, so say within 6 months of graduation
retirement— mid 60s for most working class people

Average price of house will vary wildly depending on the part of the country you're in.

$200,000 in OK will buy a 2300-2600 sq ft house, 3 car gargage, 4 bedroom, 2-1/2—3 1/2 bath house.

So Cal? $400,000 buys a shack.

Mahattan? Avg apt price is $1.45 million.

If you wanted an E46 M3 and were willing to live at home to do it, kudos to you. But don't use the excuse that you bought as reliable, affordable daily transportation when you can't even afford your own place.

That's the point that everyone is trying to make.

Jesus man, some judgmental peeps here!

I still say nice car man! Doesn't matter if you live with your parents, some people follow a different path. As long as you have a plan, you're set. I think people are just a little jealous of teh M.

I remember hearing about some study last year that the average age of kids leaving their parents house these days is 30.

                    "He speaks French..... in Russian."

You know, I wouldn't have said a word if it wasn't for the cocky "Not bad for a 22 yr. old" comment. I couldn't care less what path you wanna take. Just don't act like a badass if you're not one.

Provide a source. I don't believe that for a second.

I have heard that the US child-exit age has climbed as well.

Luis, dude, let it go. If you're going to worry about getting approval from every prick in the world you're gonna have an ulcer in no time - it's impossible - especially on the internet, where everyone is superhero tough. Pick a few people in life whose opinion you value and listen to them. Fuck everyone else.

Maybe, but to 30? Are there that many people that really suck at life these days?
