    Knocking on heavens door - E30 M3

Startet to take apart my S50B30 Euro today,a fter I got some real bad knocking for about a year ago. And now it was time to find out why.
I bet it was the rod bearings... and I was right. This is from cyl. No. 6...

On the other side, I've painted the front bumper and front fenders, because they've got a lot of scratches and stuff. It does look better I think...
Sorry for the crappy cell phone shots...

        Thanks :)
I forgot to mention that the mirrors WILL be replaced by some stock mirrors, or some original BMW DTM mirrors.

so when a rod bearing goes... does the whole botton end need to be rebuild? I'm guess it's not a bad idea to replace all the rod bearings, but what other damage usually occurs?

Normally the crank needs to be either polished or re-cut.

It depends how bad it is and what exactly happened. My m20 developed a rod knock a while ago and I saw one of my rod bearings got really beat up, but it did not spin the bearing. I just needed to replace the bearings. No need to do anything to the crank in my situation.

If it spins the bearing, you will have more work to do.

Kinda same here when was stock my engine except for the bolt on turbo...the 6th cyl bearing was shot badly but for lucky my crank was smooth and I just repalced the whole crank-rod bearing with out taking the engine apart to get some more live before broke a ring land due excesive detonation due a lena condition months later...

That bearing it's trashed badly!! WOW

I want an M3 AND a firetruck... That sould be a bad ass tool truck! You could carry around mexican work slaves to wield the tools so safely stored in the truck.

I will re-cut and rebuild the whole bottom end, and maybe take a rebuild on the head too... we'll se.
You like the firetruck? Hehe, I build them for a living...
Maybe a bit off topic, but check out this little baby we just built...
Norways biggest firetruck. 54m tall, 6000 litre pr. min water pump etc... just insane!
