Bumping this thread.
Quick background:
I purchased the car from a lady who had parked it in her garage. She left work one day and came out to find the rear window and the RR tail light were busted out. I took a look at it and decided to buy it as a project/new daily driver.
Here are the pics
Heres how she started

Murdered out tint

Started fixing and modding it

Gross oil filled air filter

Wrapped the dash. The plaid reflected on the windshield a bit much for me so I removed it a month later.

Pulled the carpet out to see if the floor board showed any signs of rust

I tried to dye the carpet black with this stuff

The weeds are almost higher than the car

Then I pulled the motor to freshen it up and get the car painted

Then freshening up the motor as the chassis gets painted

Some of the parts waiting to get installed

Sadly the only 2 photos i have of the "finished" project

Parts I've replaced:
Engine/Drivetrain:
New heater core
Oil pan gasket
Head gasket
Water pump assembly
Crank seal
Intermediate shaft seal
Rear Main seal
Cam seal
Valve cover gasket and seals
Every paper gasket/O-rings
Fresh oil change (1500 miles ago)
New radiator
New radiator fan switch
Fresh coolant (1500 miles ago)
New water/air separator filter
New diesel injectors (last 4 in NA at the time I got them)
New diesel heat shields
New glow plugs
New battery
New HD motor mounts/trans mount
Transmission:
New clutch
New pressure plate
New snap ring
Pulled case apart to inspect gears and syncho's. Replaced driveshaft seals, case
gaskets, crush washers and the C-clip that keeps the main drive attached to the
rest of the internals.
Fresh gear oil (1500 miles ago)
New halfshafts
New halfshaft bolts
New clutch cable
Brakes:
New master cylinder
New Front SS brake lines
New front calipers (powder coated red)
New brake pads
Resurfaced rotors
Fresh brake fluid
10mm wheel spacers (so wheels won't rub on springs)
Rear:
New wheel cylinders
New shoes
Adjusted E-brake (was non functioning when I first purchased car)
Drums were inspected and ok
Suspension:
BFI front control arms with poly mounts
New ball joints
New upper strut mounts
Raceland coilovers (only to slam the car, I'll get proper coils later)
New Rear wheel bearings
Interior:
New golf ball shift knob
New window cranks
Tried to "dye" the carpet black with SEM color coat. Came out ok.
Wrapped the dash in plaid but it had to much glare on the winshield so I removed
it. Unfortunately the glue removed some of the old vinyl.
Exterior:
Painted Laser Blue (inside and out)
New windshield
New windshield seal
New tail lights
New sealed beam head lights
Replaced the rear window with a junkyard special which didn't have defrost
What still needs work:
Sunroof
Shifter bushings (I have them they just haven't been installed)
Diesel pump has a small leak
Steering column bushing needs to be replaced
Sadly the car is sitting in Indiana in my parents garage. I moved from Virginia back to CA and only brought my M3 back. I want to drive the rabbit back to CA. It should be a fun road trip.
