Thanks for all the comments and the welcome guys! This is my second e30, the first was an 84' 318i one owner with 200k. Then I got this e30 and about a month later my ex gf's dad gave me, thats right, for free, his 91' 318is with 250k miles on it. The "is" is actually very clean for the mileage and not rotted out at all. I'm possibly looking to do a 524td motor swap into it so I can run it on vegetable oil. I have a dodge diesel truck that also runs on veg.
but yes the car was originally ds over cardinal. really sorta a shame that they painted it a different color, but I still love the way it looks and the paint job was nice so it's ok. The car is now porsche guards red.
The vc's defenitly need addressed, but all in time. The car is an extremely good runner, but still could use some things tidy'ed up. This winter if funds are permitting I want to rebuild the entire suspension and basically get it as worked out as I can. I've already gutted most the interior so that will also be a project. I'm thinking about race seats and a rear cage, but I'm worried it would ruin some of the originallity, and that the value on the car would totally drop. eventually I want to do most the car in c/f. The dash, hood, trunk, fenders, bumper, but my pocket book isn't quite ready for that, especially with the market being the way it is.
My original plan was to boost the s50, I'd love a ts but the price is just to much $$. So I think I'm going to just leave the motor the way it is, and really get to know the car and learn how to drive it to it's max and then worry about motor work. Ultimate plans would be drop a new M3 v8 in it, but again, $$$$ lol. I just bought a 78' euro 6'er though for $800 with 59k orig miles and no rust, so I might try fixing that car up first and then selling it to fund the M3, but I've wanted a 6'er for so long and would be really sad to let such a gem go
but thanks again for the comments guys and I'm just loving seeing so much e30 stuff on this forum. Gives me new excitment about the 318is - turbo diesel project - Adam West
oh and how hard would it be to do a diy smoked headlights? I hate the headlights right now bc they just don't put much light out onto the road which makes driving it at night even more a worry. But I think some hid's smoked out would do the trick. Anyone have any tips for hid retrofit and diy smoked? thanks
The wheels are 8's and 9's. 245's all the way around. as far as the interior, I'd rather no show pics :( but I will lol. The only thing I hate right now is the seats. When I bought the car it had a full black 325is int. in it. The car also came with the original M3 int. which is mint, but it's been painted red and tan.... I really don't like the red and tan, just makes the whole car seem rice to me, but when I had everything out of it I figured why not throw these in to see. I love the way they feel, but the color drives me crazy. So hopefully soon I'll have a set of nice race seats in it. Anyone want to donate some recaro's?!?! :D
Here's some pics and the e36 is my old car. Should'nt of sold it though... the color combo was amazing.. :(
this is the only one I have, thought I had more, sorry.
