I share daily duty between 2 cars, and the e30 rests on days that traffic is bad, or its gnarly weather.

Keep it, maybe even wait to fix it to save some $$ and have a lil more for your daily/beater.

      2. At 45, damn near a grandpa, still no plans to "grow up".
      3. Grow up rhymes with throw up.

I think I'm starting to grow up. :(
Growing up is for the birds...I have an e39 Touring and came back to an e30 as a fun car and something that I enjoy. I can't wait until she's where I want her to be and the e39 will be sitting more, unless the family has to go somewhere.:)

I loved my E30 a both times, but I got really tired of the pot holes and parts breaking, etc. Now it is just fun. I grab the car on a weekend or hop in for a fun drive to work. You will regret not having the E30 for a joy ride or two. Your car is hawt! Fix it and buy a daily that is stock.
You're absolutely right. I'm now looking for another E30 most likely an M42 car that I can DD and get some nice gas mileage with. I do have SOME room I could convince the rents to just let me cover the car up in the side yard... :D

I WISH I could do that. My work is 20 miles away... :( With the combination of work and school I would have to leave SO early and that's just not possible.

The pure connection you get with modded older cars is un obtainable with newer cars. You just get kind of numb to the feeling when your driving it every day. Yes modded cars suck as DDs.
I really wish I could afford the E34 right now. It's pretty much perfect too. Automatic, dark green wagon with just over 100k on it. Maybe I can convince someone to loan me $3000...

Although the damage isn't that bad I can understand wanting to sell it. Hopefully it finds a good home because it's a beautiful car, pre-accident that is.

I came to this realization a few years ago. It's frightening at first, isn't it.

This is probably my favorite E30, I get incredibly jealous every time I see your sig. If it was mine I would never dream of selling it.

I definitely know what the "comfortable DD" bug is like though, but the only reason I'd buy one is to have time to do whatever I want to the E30.

If you do decide to sell it, though, will you wait about 5 years so I'll have the dough to buy it?

Keep your damn car Erik (and gimme the skirts :p).

Definitely get an M42 powered car. I get awsome gas mileage in the E36 (as you know). It's quite slow, but w/e. It really only hurts when there are long straight roads ahead of you at a light and the shit wont budge lol.

So many of us "over 40" guys had cars we loved in our youths that are now rare and/or valuable. We sold them, because it was time to "grow up" or whatever.

                      We ALL regret it.

Keep you car, work harder, get a second job if needed, get a DD.

                      Keep your car.

You're gonna sell a modded fun car to buy a station wagon.

                          A boring station wagon.

Let that sift through your mind a few times. Then go kick your own ass.

Get a geo metro daily, you won't have to finance, and you'll fall in love with the e30 again

                              Amen.

I'm pushing 30 and can't for the life of me understand these early 20-something kids selling their fun cars and buying "sensible" daily drivers. E39s, Camrys, VWs..

                              What the fuck guys?

Talking to a couple of aqquaintances/coworkers my age, all male, and I look at the cars they own. A Ford Escape, two camrys, Accord, a dodge fucking Caliber, and a Taurus X. All use the same "sensible" excuse.

What the fuck indeed. Life is far too short to be driving such bland cars, especially when you can still get an erection without chemical assistance. The day I consider owning a Toyota Camry is the day I put a bullet through my brain.

Seriously, 4 door sedans, big wagons, automatics?

I don't know what's going on either. I feel like you, I just seemed to lose interest all of a sudden. I think its because we're young and have to drive these cars daily. We have to fix something within a couple hours so we can use the car the next day.

I don't have another car so this is how I have to work with my e30 and it takes up a lot of time doing maintenance on most weekends. The GF unfortunately has to take the backseat on occasion and I got tired of always working on cars.

That said, this week I plan on keeping my e30, next week maybe not, the week after I'll probably keep it again. I'm going through the same thing right now. Best of luck with what you decide.
