    My 3.1l stroker

Hi all, i'm new to this forum. I read about chris e30 cab's stroker and thought i would mention mine. I have a road registered 323i that I use for supersprints and regularity trials, I had the original 2.3l putting out about 172rwhp and wanted MORE POWER so i built a 3.1l stroker. I have only just got it running and tuned, haven't raced it yet, that is supposed to happen next weekend.
I to got the Ireland kit but with 10.5:1 compression pistons, I think I ended up with almost 11:1. 288 Schrick cam, bigger valves, lots of porting and an Autronic SM4 ecu. I'm running the original intake match ported but I got a e36 m3 throttle set so i'm hopeing to mod it to fit, Does anyone know if there is a kit to do this??
With a full dual 2" exhaust I got 217rwhp, I'm going to the dyno in an hour to try a 3" single mandrell bent exhaust I made last night to see what difference it makes, it feels like it has lost some low down torque.
Any advice or opinions would be welcome. Can't wait to get it on the track, should kick-ass.
Has anyone else had issues with Ireland Engineering's service and products?

Wow. 217WHP? Those are awesome numbers. I would definitely like to see pictures and a dynograph.

Well Back from the Dyno after doing back to back with the different exhausts. Made exactly the same power up the top and the 3" made it richer down low and as I suspected made less power down low, I could tune it but I think it was a wasted excersize as I think even with tuning it down low it wont get any better than the dual 2". I think I will mod the dual 2".
Digger I have 1 dual in and out muffler and 2 9" hotdogs and it is fairly loud but legal. Where are you in Sydney? Do you race? Would love to catch up for a cruise. What is your torque figure measured in? Are your eng specs the same as mine?

An aussie forum which may be of interest

                torque is 207 lb-ft @ wheels

mine is 11:1 static CR with catcam "298/284" (formely labbelled 283/273 by catcam) with v500 plug and play standalone ecu.

so far only used on the street.

                a 3" is equivalent to dual 2-1/8"
                dual 2' is about 2-7/8"
i have dual 2.25" equivalent to 3.25" so the fact you lost torque is promising for me since i will be going from dual 2.25 to dual 2.0.

                How much did you lose?

Digger, I only lost torque cause the tune is out (rich) down low, if I tuned it it would bring the power and torque back up but I dont think it would be different to the dual 2". My dyno print out gives a Tractive effort(lb) of 775, I dont know how that converts to lb-ft.

more than likely it runs rich because the airflow has lowered and the ECU has no idea of this (MAP sensor) so it still injects the same quantity of fuel but there is less air hence it runs rich. If AFR had not changed then it would be correct to say that nothing happened

                        3.1 strokers are over rated.

how would 3.0L strokers compare to 3.1L...besides the extra 0.1L.
is there really that much of an advantage?
