picked up my new wheels on sunday, and started working them over a bit. the plan is matte black center nuts, black/gold center caps, and grind down/fix some curbage on the lips. the lips will be sanded down to a uniform dull shine with 800 grit or something for now.
they'll get torn down over winter, the plan is to get them on the car now for the summer.

the parts stash.

been a minute since my last update, but plenty of action haha.
got a call that my coilovers have finally landed on US shores, i should have them in my hands in the next week or so, and the install will take place shortly after that.
also been working pretty steadily on my wheels. removed all the bolts and mounted them on a wheel balancing machine at a friend's shop for easy sanding. works amazing ha.
2 of the wheels are done being sanded and have been buffed/polished. only the one on the right is done.

and then last week i drove up to my parents so i could use the carpet cleaner. as i began stripping the seats and consoles, i found some dampness in the passenger footwell. lifted the carpet and found several gallons of standing water.
what ensued was lots of frustration, disassembly, and scouring the r3v archives.
i ended up removing the carpet the whole way, which ended up making it much easier to clean! came out great, and will allow me to still drive the car while i make sure i have fully resolved my leak. my sunroof and winshield cowl drains were clear, elephant drain was mega clogged, and i also plan on laying a bead of silicone around the base of the blower motor. hopefully that will do it.
anyway, clean carpet chillin on my back porch. also, it gave me a good chance to inspect the floors in the car, and they are 100% totally solid, which is reassuring since it's lived its life in the northeast.

i've also resolved my leaky taillight seals, removed my antenna and replaced it with a flush plug and gave the car it's first couple of washes and thorough waxings under my care.
more updates as things start hopefully progressing more rapidly in the coming weeks!Last edited by 8380 Labs; 04-27-2009, 10:06 AM.Comment

the FK konigsports i ordered ended up showing up, so i'm going to be running those.
they are made using remanned factory lower strut lugs and come as a fully threaded body, with dampening adjustment and koni strut inserts, i'm curious to see how they work out. if they don't, i'll nab some KWs.
a friend of mine now owns qimis' old white car with the s50 swap and has KWs on it, he said they ride pretty well and go decently low.Comment

update:
had a box waiting for me on the front porch when i got back from errands this morning. i ordered these over christmas as a part of the special introductory sale they had going, i remember seeing a few threads about them on here.
they are made using OEM lower strut legs, they still have the BMW logo stamped in them. it doesn't look like theres a ton of threads on these, so i'm hoping i'lll be able to get them as low as i want.
they are FK konigsports, with koni inserts and adjustable dampening, they look like they are made pretty well...

once i buy new front hubs and wheel bearings i'll be throwing these on the car with all the other suspension junk i've ordered. should be a couple weeks.Comment
