on all metallic paints it is ALWAYS a 2 stage paint. 2 stage meaning clear coat/ base coat

as far as in the real world paintshops.

so rest at ease. and 200 dollars, heck, in germany you cant even get a car detailed for that--

    looks good

Yea I'm thinking about doing this as well at a similar place. If I do all the prep/masking yourself what can go wrong right? I also heard they use cheap paint but at the place I know you can provide them with paint, so in theory it should come out just as good as a real professional job. Or am I wrong?

my maaco job was over $1000. but they removed around 15 dents, and had them do the cleacoat and what not. your car came out great, you should post more pics.

For $200 bucks, you really didn't go wrong. I'm still so pissed at my last paint job and I spent around $4k (I even did most all the prep work and all the assembly work.

For the price it looks superb. I applaud you for paying a little bit of money to get a decent paint job instead of rattle canning it and making it look worse like some other people do.

                            BTW-is this an '88?

hey dan my m3 is a stock 2002, im keeping it as clean as i can so that when i become an old man and drive around in it hopefully some future generation of kids can appreciate a stock m3 :D the only thing ive done is bought a set of dpe wheels, 19x8 in front and 19x10 in back, 4 inch lip in back and bbk friendly all around in case i ever want go crazy and add some real hp to the stock 333 it comes with, oh and some black out grills and gills in the future.......no drop as my drive way wont allow it

yup my thoughts exactly. i figured id probably do a worse job and it would cost me more. and its an 87, i bought it last month. the previous owner said the bumpers were added, short shift kit, performance chip, koni shocks and a z3 steering rack...ill tell u what that steering rack upgrade is great, it has a hair trigger. very precise.
