Smaller speaker magnets, no gas cap, 3 lug nuts per wheel, the possibilities are endless!

Look at it this way... if it's 2055 now, then with a gutted interior, removed A/C, etc..., he is looking at 1700lbs or less. Who would have thought a member of r3v would have the lightest street legal e30 in the world?

And all the seam filler was melted off and the whole chassis was stitch seam welded. Nitrogen in the tires (and spare), insulation on the A/C lines stripped.

It can't be that light, it still has bumpers.

Maybe the alloy used to make the seat frames is hollowed out? And the seatfoam has a high air volume.

Nice looking car, But I am gonna have to agree. I don't see that much weight being dropped off it.

Can we see a pic of your custom rear subframe that is 45lbs lighter then a stock subframe? What's the weight on a stock rear subframe? I would have thought 30-40 lbs.

    +1 looks great...

Also I am very interested in seeing this weight reduction thread come about. I am all about the fuh-raze weight reduction methods where I can have a full interior and a/c and a radio (zOmGZ!) and trim that much fat from my car (I have sources and deep pockets for things to be made from titanium that these sources were also responsible for helping put past and future mars rovers on the red planet and some other top secret shit for the military's F-22 Raptor, but if I told ya what that was I would have to kill ya)...

But his dad was a NASA engineer, and since you were just a commoner, they didn't need to explain things like that. You just needed to conform and not ask questions.

    ^^ haha, thats hilarious.

Regardless of bullshit or not, your cars looks amazing. I'm definitely taking some style notes.

And +256 on thread about super-secret weight reduction techniques. You should be sure and include details on your M42, everyone on M42club would love to hear about it.

Wow, my fully gutted track car weighs 2450. You're 400lb less, and have an interior and A/C. Amazing to think alloy seat frames are lighter then no seat frames.

Also amazing how low the car is on H&R sports for only being 2050lbs.

    Clean car though, looks good.
