Bawls! I love it! I had my 530iT out in the slippery crap this week. With the ASC+T it was a breeze. Turned it off a few times to actually have some good fun. I am swapping in the 4L in the next couple months and retaining the traction control. In order to add it you have to play with wiring throttle, abs, abs brain, and brake lines, and add the ASC unit. Too much hassle to add for me.

I heart your calypso, wish mine was.

Thanks dude. Are you doing a 6-speed swap too? Sounds freakin' awesome. a V8 Touring would be cooler than an S50 Touring.

My car is a build date 4/94, but as a 1995 Model with ASC+T. It is also pre-EWS so I didn't have to deal with all that crap. I didn't even think it would work, but I was pleasantly surprised when it did.

Thanks dude. BTW, I saw that ninja edit. :p The ZF310 is a fine gearbox, you just need to be careful. I will agree that it does seem to like to go towards 2nd when you really want to get to 4th. I went with it because it came with the engine. The ZF320 is another choice, but those have a tendency to stick in 5th gear.

Yeah, I noticed you had the name of the gearbox in the OP. I haven't got any experience with that particular ZF gearbox, but I've always heard the horror stories about how easily it is to miss a shift and cause some major damage. Is the 525i (M50) manual the same as the one you have in there now? I never knew if BMW used that same ZF310 (or ZF320) in all M5x/S5x-powered cars.

I'll break it down for you:

                    Getrag 250 was used on the '92-'95 325i and '93-'95 525i

                    ZF310 was used on the '92 525i (Non-Vanos) and '95 M3

ZF320 was used on '96+ M3 and I believe 328i (not sure on this)

You hear horror stories because Linkage components are worn and then subject to harsh driving (i.e. Track use). Just make sure your linkage is in decent shape.

Ahh, thanks, that explains it a bit better.

Like I said, I have "heard" horror stories in the past. But I imagine if you're driving the car sensibly and the shifter bushings, etc. are in good shape then it isn't a concern.

Damn, that car looks good man. :D
