Look at that A/F graph...nice and flat, slowly getting richer and richer. Dyno tuning is the only real way, to see what YOUR particular car can do and what mods work and don't. Looks awesome. Considering most chips sell for $250, $300 is a deal for a custom burned chip, tuned on the dyno.

werd Barry, werd. we probably did 15 pulls while tweeking the A/F ratio and we finally got it where we wanted it. Its at about 14.7 at idle and at it moves up in RPMs it peaks at 13.4. I think its a prefect mixture.

Congrats on the progress Taylor. It's great to get the car on the dyno and really see what's going on. :)
Was this a 2.5L "i" M20? I just ask because I'm a bit confused by the numbers. Before I tore down my car in 2006, I dyno'ed it as is, one hundred percent bone stock ('89 325i M20, 112k miles), and it put down 140WHP. Crank HP is rated at 168BHP from the factory. Estimate a 15% drivetrain loss, and you get 142WHP.

Yes Robert its an i motor. The only problem comparing your numbers to mine is they were conducted on two different dynos which most likely put out a different number than if you were to have dynoed your car on the same machinet as me. The dyno we used was a very accurate machine that is calibrated regularly because it is used so often.
I was expecting higher numbers with my setup at first but when I realized that everyone was basically in the same realm as far as low numbers. So if the numbers were in fact lower than they should have been, at least the dyno was consistant in that respect. But seeing as though Osh dynos cars on it almost daily, I couldn't see it being very inaccurate.

Everything is beautiful. The idle is at a perfect 750 at all times. I've noticed that the lag in throttle response has definitely decreased. You know, the delay of foot to the floor and actual engine response. That's much better. And I have never felt an internally stock M20 pull so nicely and my powerband is very usefull as well.

+1 - I see the sunsetting on off the shelf chips very soon- that or a substantial price adjustment to true market value of $50-$100
