+1 on the retro fitting the switch from newer cars, that is if you have the time, tools, and patience otherwise there should be an adjustment bolt towards the rear of the window track to to adjust how far the window goes up.

All of the newer BMWs with frameless windows have it, but I don't know what the module goes for. Look in the bently, though; I think I came across it in there once.

as said above, e36 coupes do this. When opening from the outside I think there is a switch on the handle workings so the window drops when the handle is lifted. I would go to a junk yard and get all the workings out of an e36 coupe.

I thought all cars do it if theres a vert version of it. I didn't know what was going on the first time my friends E36 coupe did it.

Ok, here is an actual solution for you
Push the front portion of the top open... It will lift the canvas from the frame. Put a small spacer on the frame (thick isulating type tape or thin rubber with glue).. Install this spacer at the location on the frame where the window is touching the canvas top.. this will slightly lift up the canvas in that area so the window won't touch. You won't notice this "fix" when the top is closed though..

                for more clarification PM me

                cheers,

I just checked my bentley's to be sure, and yep, its in there. There is an actual way to solve it, not putting shims in instead. My dad's e30 was the same, never fixed it though.

fuck a whole lot of adjusting your windows. It doesn't work. If you adjust them to the point where they don't catch the top you deal with a new issue called

I had the same issue on almost every vert I owned but most of the driving I do is topless so I don't really worry about it

I had the same problem with my vert. I adjusted the window and now have the omgtherain is coming in problem. I try not to drive it in the rain, so it is the lesser of two evils.

                              or just use my solution...

I've been fighting this problem with 2 verts with a total of three tops. 1 of the tops I bought had this "fix" on it, and it worked great.

I like your solution a lot. My response was in support of it.

I wouldn't be driving my car in the rain even if it didn't leak so the door closing properly was more important to me
