I completely agree. To the best and most original E28 I have ever seen, REVIVE IT! It deserves another lease on life. It was very controversial and that was its best trait. I hate seeing cars get totalled, its the worst thing ever. Im glad to hear that your friend is ok. I hope you get better soon as well.
