because 7" wide wheels are wimpy. we know you dont like stretched tires. I dont like wimpy wheels. Put some lips on your rs's

I guess I just don't understand why you'd use 10" wheels for such a narrow tire.

With all due respect to rwdrift, was he not on here last year begging for donations because he didn't have the money to keep drifting?

Yet he's spending money on wider wheels for no good reason?

That's my point...if he's drifting on a budget as he claims to be, why piss away money on something as pointless as wide wheels for narrow tires?

Style points? They give those out in drifting, don't they?

Whoa... we're going to way back in the day. That was early '07... and things were much different then. I couldn't get a job that wasn't under the table... and those jobs that I did have paid minimum wage. I had a chance for something big, and I asked for support. Whole different story and I can further clarify it via PM if you'd like.

Keeping on topic, there are many reasons why I chose this wheel/tire setup:

1-) The price agreed upon was right and I love look the wheels.
                  2-) I had the 215/45/16 readily available.
3-) I wanted to stretch as much as possible know to keep the fender work to a moderate level.
4-) I don't have the power to keep anything over 235s spinning (not without serious abuse of my drivetrain)

And in the end, I wanted to do 10" wheels. Why? Well why not? It hit me at a time that I can afford it, and everyone has 9" wheels. So I wanted to do 10" just because.

But in the end, we had everything working against us. This wheel is a stepped lip, the sidewall on the DZ101 won't budge for the life of it, and 150psi being blown off a cheetah was not enough to seal the 215/45 on the wheel. I'm going to look into 225/45s now.

Not to doubt your mounting skills, but did you sun the tires, or at least attack them with a heat gun?

No, honestly there was no point in trying. We've stretched 255s on 12" wheels, and we were so far away on this one that's not even funny. We pulled the tire off, and we all took shots at pulling the sidewall apart with the tire to our chest.... that thing would not even budge.

We compared it to a Nexen sitting at the shop and it was like comparing butter to a rock.

It could be done... with a tire that flexes more. I'm willing to bet we could do it with a Nexen, or a Falken Ziex. Dunlop just doesn't make a tire with a flexible sidewall (which is a better thing)

And if this wheel was not a stepped lip, it would've been a done deal.

Reminds me of the rediculousness of mounting some of Bontrager's tubeless tires on tubeless ready rims. Think bleeding hands.
