d40x seems to be discontinued on B&H and Adorama.

not to take this too far off topic, but the d60, the successor to the d40 and d40x has been out for a year and a half now, and there are rumors of a new d3000 model that should fall into the "successor to the d60" category... perhaps a d60 with video capabilities. we will see soon.
