Are e39's reliable cars, other than when trees attack of course.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

Wow, keep us posted as to what the outcome is! Awesome color combo with the interior and Alpine! Vlad, you should make him an offer to buy it if it's not totalled....that is.....if he wanted to get rid of it. I wish I could step out of my 540i into a M5. Anyway, beautiful car that deserves being saved and NOT parted out.

Other than their cooling system, I think mine is very reliable. The radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, and expansion tanks tend to cause problems. Zionville make after market cooling systems that make these car bullet proof imo. I just replaced my expansion tank because it split and cracked, kind of odd.

Yeah it looks so clean. This is the worst when this stuff happens to peoples beloved low mile cars. Its like your car got raped and even if it survives it will never be the same and you'll always know it was violated.

I say it can be fixed. I mean I have seen people weld a whole rear half on cars before.

and theres no way thats totalled. that cars blue book value is way more than what it would cost to fix that roof...and i dont see any pillar damage...that is again, i have only seen pics...

                              my vote----no totallage.

Thats exactly what I need to convert my 528it into a M5 Touring :) Well that and some $$

Its really not that bad, may not be totaled. If it was me, I would be replacing it with a non-sunroof roof panel and headliner.
