Because those are the determining factors you should be after when looking at colleges...
They do matter - college is a lot more than just class.
Well, more or less that is the external factors of school....and he asked how I liked it.

It's a Top 10 Engineering school, Top 25 Business school, strong in pre-pharm I believe, great overall science department I think.....has the most astronauts graduated from a college....etc and good job placement, etc.

But I didn't go here for the education solely, if where I went mattered more, I would have applied MIT, Carengie Melon, Northwestern, Wash U.....etc and gone to where I got in. But college IS more than just classes, and I love being at a Big Ten school, especially on home football game days.

I like the BIG state school, some like small liberal arts colleges, etc. Even with 30K+ people plus, you will run into people you know between classes and the campus is nice and treey.

Aaron, lets not go the route of Bf.c and have the frat haters and then people who support fraternities. I'd say at most schools they don't really play a role, but other schools are much larger. We have 40 fraternities, so you could say we are pretty Greek. And my father become friends with his brothers for life. Sure you can be independent, like Bill was and he said he had a great time.....but then again, fraternities are supposed to build brotherhood and some schools have a predominately Greek school.....where most of people you like are in them. I'm going to be in a fraternity, so whatever. If you don't want to in one, don't but don't judge others.

Sticking to generalities and stereotypes is what high school was about. Fraternities are about getting along with the brothers in your house and working together. Sure, an off campus appartment would be cool and fun to, but fraternities are easy to have parties and you become close with more friends that way. Which help build a system of networking later as well.

My dad has had one of his pledge brothers offer him a job multiple times, and traveled to Ohio the other week just to play some golf with brothers from the house. Bonds like that are lucky if made outside a fraternity, but common within one. If you want to live your life without a fraternity, fine.....but don't talk shit about them. I'll have one of my dad's fraternity's chapter near you off you...... ;)

Yeah...youre right...it is pretty much impossible to make good friends outside of fraternities. I always love how they call each others brothers and sisters.

Whatever...I dont care much. I have friends in frats, know people who have been in frats...they dont turn out any better than people who dont participate.

Ha, wtf? If generalizations and stereotypes are high school, then hypocrisy must be college.

I'll keep my opinion of frats and such to myself.

I'm just saying we aren't going to agree. So let's not flame in my member's ride thread. You're the one who decided to go OT about how you think fraternities are extensions of HS just because I mentioned we are pretty Greek at Purdue. I never said you cannot make friends outside, one of my friends is a Senior GDI.....but what I said it is tought to be as close with as many people as living in one can provide. My GDI friend is living with 3 roommates, not 30-80 housemates.

Who cares. This is my thread about me getting my car on campus and my duct tape sticker.....not a debate about fraternities!!!!!!!!

          Bill,
Ha, wtf? If generalizations and stereotypes are high school, then hypocrisy must be college.
Okay, nice way to pull out a generalization, but what I was saying is friendships may be strong outside of a fraternity, but there is an extra force to stay tight. Once friends go seperate ways independent, they may remain good friends, but there is an extra push for brothers. Of course, the same thing could easily be said about teammates, co-workers, etc. Some sort of strong social connection other than just friendship could help the continuation......etc. If you boil it down, fraternities are just like a social club or organization that helps keep brothers' grades up, partying hard, and getting along.

          Let's move on.

Matt, you must be joking.....make your own duct tape stickers. ;)

I like how they always sit together during common exams. I always ask them "So who is coyping of who?" because I know all 8 of them and to be honest, they are fucked.

Im an associate in one here, maybe I should just wander in and start eating some food and see if anyone notices. Nah, fuckit. We got Chik-fil-a! :D
              Im now E30less.

I am pledging a frat as of right now. All I know is that I will have great friends especially in my pledge class for the next four years. If you don't like the greek system, then whatever, you can have your opinion. But I bet you meet more people and make arguably closer bonds with people that people who live in the dorms and go to a snowboarding club meeting once a week.

You can't really talk shit if you haven't expericed it.

It's a good school, as far as they say. No Ivy league or Northwestern, but great as far as state schools go.
Nice big campus, nice people, lots of people, and plenty of fraternities and parties.

IUPUI is good, like the education of either.....sort of, but NO campus life and most people who go there are people who are sticking around home and then commuting to school in town.
Several friends go there, but I don't see why someone out of state would go.....that would be uber gay. Come to Purdue. It's only $28K a year......for you.

Bah, Kansas. I'm bored in the afternoon because other people are at class, as I am not. I still can easily party W-Sat., like last night.
I slept through my classes this morning, and am just now jumping in the shower. Plus, I took like 10 minutes total on the stickers.
Thanks for the great info. I'll probably stick to going in-state. :)

hah.. you can keep your gay i lip. the solution is to not pull all the way up to a curb, the E30 easily fits into parking spots made for gigantic SUVs, no need to worry about pulling all the way up.. :)

plus, you could go too far and crack your oil pain!

and yeah, I pulled over a curb on accident once, and the lip was about 1-2mm above the curb. my car didn't settle at all when me and my 200lb freind got in the car 8)

ps I'm just joking mostly, your car looks good as ever. I just don't see many people really liking the i lip all that much, it's kindof like loving bottlecaps or something.. just, no. :P

Wow. Holy crap, thank for posting your opinion!!! OMG, I see it now, the Greek system is stupid and for losers.....

If you want to share your opinion, do it somewhere, like ATRT or Bf.c OT......I don't care for it in my Member's Ride thread. Spencers asked a question about Purdue, and I listed the Greek system as a plus of the campus. If you don't like fraternities don't become a part of one or don't go to a very Greek school, but you don't have to press your opinion on others. I don't get why people are so caught up in disliking the idea of fraternities they must contanstly hate on them. Most of you probably didn't go to a school BIG on the greej system, or find a group of guys you wanted to live with. But Depauw for example, where some friends go is 70% Greek......and just recently offered new on-campus housing for independents. Life there is obviously different from a school without many fraternities.

Please, everybody, either talk about my duct tape or park job, or shut the fuck up. This isn't the community section.

wow, just because someone made it go OT, then that means it makes it okay for you to add to it?

It's my ride, and I'm a member. I wanted to show one reason I am glad I have not yet gotten an IS lip, as well as my stickers. Before, I was not allowed to park or have my car up there, but now I do. Also, I am sporting my R3Vlimited sticker.

Asking how someone is liking their school is one thing, and I'm cool with that OT...but then flaming fraternities for no reason....that's unneccessary. All I did to start was mention we had a large Greek system, and Aaron and everyone else thought it was needed to give their 2 cents about fraternities. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, but there's no need for you or Aaron to share.....unless fraternities are so evil and bad that you must tell everyone about it whenever possible.

He asked about how I liked the school, so I told him. The Greek system of a school is just another factor of it, as much as size or location, or sports. I forgot to mention Purdue has Division 1 sports, and is in the Big Ten. Purdue Football rocks..... But making comments about me mentioning the greek system is just saying you don't like to watch football when I mention we have a good football program........ Who needs to read those comments?
