It would take 100 years to wire brush it, it should be replaced but I didn't have the cash to do it. Its really the only rusty part up there, but you don't see it. I will let the next owner know it should be done next time that area is taken apart.

I think its like $150 for a new one, I just was trying to cut costs for things that didn't have to be done now.

Twiddling my thumbs and spending a lot of money on fluid.

Basically all together and ready to fire, just waiting on my SAI plug...

    To do:

Drain gas, fill with new stuff
    Put front end on
    Fill coolant
    Finish rear brake lines
    Bleed brakes and clutch
    INTERIOR!
    Paint

Good news everybody, today was highly productive!

Mounted the flywheel and clucth, put on the tranny, installed the engine, put in the axles (for the most part anyways) hooked up almost all the electrical, and put most of the cooling system together.

Sorry for the shitty pics, its off my iphone, I again forgot my camera.

The BFI chip should be in monday, so I should be able to fire it up tuesday.

    That is all for now.

Load it with polishing media (like walnut shells) & some polishing compound (don't use 'Brasso') & whatever you put in should come out mirror-polished. Get the specific stuff (polishing media/compund) at any gun store/Bass Pro Shops that sells reloading equipment.

And you don't need to run it all night, 2-4 hours should do. You'll find you will get better results when you change the media after each use.
Yeah I'm aware of that, its not my tumbler. It is full of walnut shells and polishing compound, it was just really dirty. I'm assuming some cleaner stuff might work better, but I didn't want to dirty up a batch just for some bolts.

btw, it worked mediocre. Probably some cleaner / more gritty media would have made it better.

Well shitty day, I knew my pressure plate bolts wouldn't be in until today, and I was planning on dropping the engine in tomorrow. I just found out that class is canceled tomorrow. Hopefully someone will be around the shop thursday to give me a hand putting it in.

Well I was right, spent 3 hours today trying to dig a pintle cap off the top of my valve when it fell in the intake when I was putting the injectors on. Tried everything to get it out, ended up pulling some tack off a door card and sticking it to a screw driver. Just hard to get it into a position so I could see it and not move it when I was trying to stick to it.

Of course it had to fall in the back side of the intake, so I had to reach through the width of the head to get it.

Also this car is going to be sold, I'm maxed on cash for it so I can't afford the ITB's. I never got to do the headwork I wanted for this reason. I have way to much into the car and can't afford it lol. Probably going to take a $2k hit on it or so.

I think I said this somewhere. I bought the car to flip with a buddy, then school was starting and I had to find a project engine to rebuild, I was broke (wanted to do my s52) and this was a perfect car to do. My father originally was going to take the car as a DD when I was done, but backed out about $1500 into the build.

So my $2k hit or so will count as tuition for me. I'm just going to keep the car until july or so, going to enter it into EuroWerkes this summer (june 27th if your in MN). I'm far from expecting to win anything, just doing it for fun.

It was a fun build, but its not going to be uber fast or anything.
