    Engine - before / after

Here's some shots of the paint work I did this past week. Still a LOT more to do on the engine to get it looking nice, but I may hold off and just put the time into an m50 instead :D

Holy friggen crap. What a difference. Makes me think twice about selling my IE Shorty headers and actually installing them.

Thanks guys!! I need to figure out what kind of headers these are, I'll try to get a better pic of them so maybe someone can identify them for me.

Wow, that's awesome looking. That first pic makes you doubt anything of that kind of improvement would happen.

looking really good. I was really happy when I painted my valve cover, now I have to do the same with my intake manifold.

I just used aluminum-look paint on it. Cleaned it with Castrol Superclean first using a wire brush and toothbrush, that took a while.

just curious, how do you go about getting such good detail on the small lines and bmw logo, without spillover onto the rest of everything?

Spray the whole thing then go back over the raised parts with a sander, that's what I did with mine.

The black is a wrinkle paint used on Harley engines (Jordan gave me the idea to get it there) They have 2 kinds, textured black, and wrinkle black. I used the wrinkle black.

I'll have to check on the aluminum paint, but I think it was just Rustoleum 500 degree aluminum coating.
