They were definitely a bit crooked back then. The hood needed adjustment as well, along with a few other things.

but in all seriousness, those rims look like the honda 14" grappling hook special, especially in black. there are plenty of well-styled lightweight rims, these do not fall in that category.Comment

Personally though, I'd prefer something wider.paint sucksComment

Thanks Texas.
I like them a lot. Especially after all the years of having expensive, three-piece wheels on my old M3, and the overhead associated with keeping them looking their best. I do not miss the PITA of having polished outers without a clear coat, that required a good half hour of polishing at least per wheel. I don't even have to dry my E30 wheels after washing them, and after years of slaving away with the billet polish, this is absolutely awesome. For me, at least. :D
That, and I would always be too concerned with trashing a wheel once the pavement turned nasty, and now I don't worry for a second with the LTW5s. They may not have any of the aesthetic impact of an expensive road wheel, but neither do they have the financial impact if one gets destroyed. The LTW5 is so ridiculously inexpensive that I can replace the entire set without thought or hesitation in the case of unfortunate calamity.
For example, take the case of the wrench I picked up in one of the tires a few weeks back - Had it taken out the wheel as well, it would have taken actual effort for me to care less because my cost on a replacement is next to nothing:
I'm still trying to figure that one out.
At any rate, it's refreshing to hear that these wheels are not universally well received, because then everyone would have them.Last edited by C-T; 08-25-2009, 05:11 PM.Comment

Yes. When I install the first round of upgrades to my current setup, I suspect that I am going to want something wider. I am actually very surprised by how well the 225s handle the current power, as I can launch very aggressively and lay it WOT all through 1st and 2nd without traction loss unless I induce it, but I think the compression afforded by the 50-series sidewall has a lot to do with this. I have been thinking a lot about what the next setup is going to be, and so far haven't really found anything that I like - correction, that I can afford along with my other plans for the car.
Same as with everybody, I guess. All things in time. :DComment

Tell me about it. I was slowly driving in traffic, felt a tug from the passenger rear, and I didn't have time to even wonder if the tire was trashed before the thump thump thump started up. I pulled off the road, yanked off the tire, and found my awesome wrenchly surprise. I'm not really that surprised though, because I seem to invite that kind of nonsensical crap. :/Comment

Exactly my thoughts as well after ~ 7000 miles on the T1Rs. I will say that they are wearing very well, surprisingly well in fact as long as I can stay in the wrench-free zone, but I after hearing some rave reviews I think the Star Specs are next. I just don't want to start burning through tires every season like I used to when I ran AVS Sports or the SO3s back in the day, since I like to wring the snot out of the car.Comment

I'm doing great! I can only imagine the blow you felt when faced with parting ways with the E36.
I also made a subtle change; see -> http://r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=135817
I see Neel also picked up a nice 5er.
and... what the heck happened to BRG man?!
What's UP man! Been a long time, how have you been?
Thanks for the thoughts on the M3, it's been long enough for me to get over it and to have found a new curse - er, car to have me pulling my hair out. And in a lot of ways, I enjoy this car just as much, if not more in ways, than I ever enjoyed the E36.
