Well to be fair that's my buddy's house (I live in a crowded as fuck college town with a carport), Ive had the diff in my trunk and all the tools to do it, jack jackstands socket wrenches torque wrenches mobil 1 etc for about 2 weeks. Didn't crack the old one though. ;)
I've run around with a floor jack in my trunk for a long time though, beats the widowmaker. So far Ive helped 3 people change their tires, you should see the look on their faces when a pretty normal looking guy tells them to hang on a second, open the trunk and produces a full deep socket set, 1/2" drive torque wrench and a floor jack.
Really? That's a lot, my 4.10 LSD only took about 1.25 qts. Did you fill it until it was up to the bottom of the fill hole, while sitting as it would on the car?
S3.73 is a medium case, but I actually filled it with the ass in the air like in the pictures so I could have overfilled it. Seems like I got about 1.9 quarts in and that's what I remember spec being, but I'm not sure (checking after I post). The seller says the diff never whined before (and I believe him) so there are really three options here as I see it
1. Diff is overfilled and somehow that's making it whine
2. CSB or wheel bearing is gone or something (it's a whirring/whining though not really a humming) I didn't support the driveshaft, just left it hanging although I really doubt that could do it
3. Previous owner of the diff had a 14185 ;)
With no offense intended to you, read 50 threads on this forum (or most others). You will find at least 5 (I am being generous) ideas that are 'that stupid'. I had no idea Mobil branded their 75W90 as Mobil 1. I just learned something - though I will reiterate, why not redline?

No worries. Because I can buy 2 qts of mobil 1 at kragens for 18 bucks.
