Another Budget Turbo Build

Your friend using the same turbo is obviously not well tuned with a narrowband, especially with 19lb injectors.

It would be interesting to stick an Exhaust Gas Temp probe up its arse and see just how much heat is being blown through the motor/exhaust.

Get a bigger turbo
Get bigger injectors
Get a wideband
More timing, less boost, less exhaust gas temps

So the deal with changing up the plan:

Sticking with the turbo
Sticking with the injectors

I was wrong with my numbers. I meant 250rwhp at 10 psi, Im going to run like 6-7 aiming for 210-220ish rwhp. Also budget wise is up to about 1400.

Blowing up my motor isnt a huge concern to me. Its a high mileage motor, I wouldnt mind putting a lower mileage m20 in and running stock again. This is an experiment.

A budget build to me is doing something pretty cheap with the resources you have and making it work. We all know that budget is NOT reliable.

i have this exact turbo and manifold sitting on a shelf in my garage, and i was always thinking of putting it on my spare e30 well..... from what im reading on here maybe i should just not even think of turboing my m20 NA ftw

Hey mang. Good luck with the project. I agree 100% with going wide band over narrow. You will over spool your baby turbo, it is not good practice, but I have seen it done to ridiculous levels and nobody died from it. Fuck the haters, if you blow up your car, you blew up YOUR car. It's as simple as that. Good luck.

Sorry guys, its been awhile since the progress.

So the timeline got pushed back to save some more money. By save I mean I gotta wait for some sweet deals.

The past week and a half I payed for and received boost gauge, A/F guage, and Oil temp gauge. I also got in the mail a few days ago the panel to put the gauges in. Im taking the guibo cover off in the next week and putting in the new short shifter.

Im also thinking about getting a new oil pan, that way I can tap one and have a solid one.

As soon as I get the BEGi, thats when the build will start. Until then I can only tap the pan and notch the mani.


edit: I also bought a new clutch :)
