seriously though bite my shiny metal ass
Changing the way the engine interprets incoming air flow does NOT change the acronym from ITB to MTI, you idiot. The hardware doesn't change just because you take out a simple electronic sensor. How is it you aren't getting this?

....... Jesus.... What the fuck happened here...
Yahoo, you contradicted yourself a few times.... I don't give two shits what you think, we disagree and have our thoughts... you have yours.... So... Still waiting for pics of install and vids of the car being tuned on the dyno.
PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

Also, that $50 would almost pay for my gas there if I drove conservatively.

i didn't read the whole post i appologize i thought you were removing the plenum.
the purpose of the plenum is 2 fold
1 single air filter
2 equalizes available air available to all cylinders (more or less in theory as most likely 1 or more cylinders will usually get slightly more air based on directional flow because of inlet location)

The piston pulls in a predetermined amount of air regardless of how it gets there. That is what displacement is, retard.
The only thing that changes is flow patterns and restrictions on flow. When you breathe, you take in the same amount of air each time. If you put a pillow over your face, like I'm sure many people here would like to do, it makes it harder to breathe, but you still take in the same amount of air.

Ever heard of resonance tuning? The point of a plenum is to have all the runners tied together such that in a narrow rpm band the natural frequency of the engine pulling the intake air into the cylinders will essentially ram air into the cylinders, significantly increasing torque and power in that rpm band. Essentially, in this rpm band, the air going into cylinder 1 (of some generic motor) pulls with it the air for cylinder 4, and when the valve for 1 closes, the air flows directly into 4 at much higher velocity than it would at normal operation.
For this to work, the plenum volume must be carefully considered as well. This is why most custom engine intake plenums flow like ass and sap horespower. I'm not just talking about yours, I've seen this happen on many different builds and engines.
The S38, a motor with which you have zero familiarity yet think you know how to tune, uses a resonance flap in its plenum to have a two stage version of this effect, as well as adding length to the air pathway for low end torque.
Don't start playing racecar engineer with me.

frankly (oh yeah i brought it back) i want to drop the debate again cause i'm always going to say and mean MTI others can think whatever and thats their right but i have a right to disagree.
i will be getting this thing together in the next few days/weeks depending on my work schedule and school schedule. luckily spring break is 2 weeks from friday so i think i'll knockout the install then.
things that are done
1 travis finished the ecu (except the boost control solonoid) last night
2 i got the firmware loaded and started the base map.
3 the plenum has it's lines drawn and i'll get that thing knocked out this weekend one way or another.
4 injectors and air filter are here just have to go pay for them and pick them up
things that need to get done
1 i will be running all the wires for the gauges this weekend and may / may not install the intercooler
2 waiting on the damn boost gauge to get here
3 get the damn plenum done
4 install megasquirt and make sure it works
5 tell bin to fuck off and make more rude comments about him
6 argue people on internet while at work
7 check my email
8 get everything installed on the car
9 get a tune

I miss the old days, when you used to talk to yourself in post after post and every once in a while we'd pop in and laugh with you. Or at you, I don't remember which. People need to STFU and let this thread happen on its own.
