Hey guys I need a little help. I changed my M42 rad today for a late M20 rad and attempted to bleed it. I had the front of the car up in the air had it running for a while and revving it up. Even after it was up to temp and the heater was on the top radiator hose was really hot but the bottom hose is still cold. Does that mean my thermostat is not opening? I thought since the top hose was hot it was open?

So if my top hose is hot and the bottom is cold then the thermostat has not opened right? It must be defective then because it did that with my M42 rad as well and I thought the rad was clogged. Its an 80C so it should open even earlier.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

You may notice the engine runs a bit better at 80C as opposed to 75C. But if it ever starts to overheat in the summer in stop-and-go, throw in the 75 and you'll be golden.Comment

Ya it was a little smoother at idle when it was warmer. But It's nice going from "oh shit I better get home before it starts to get too warm again" to "I would have to be driving on the sun for It to even get halfway" My 80c was stuck shut so it would overheat in 20 min from cold.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment
